Bk2 Ch.3 Tunnels! - part3

Hello guys! Obviously you know this is Applestorm... Uh, sorry for the lack of posts... I've been really lazy and for dumb reasons. Don't worry, I'll still continue writing, but I apologize if they're a little late. That is all... Uh... you can start reading now!

........

Sapphire was walking slowly through the forest, having no idea where she was going (not that she cared), and trying to figure out  where Barak and Midnight went. Mora kept pace beside her, making sure there were no threats.

Sapphire: Now where did that thief go? Do you know, Mora?

Mora cocked her head to Sapphire, not realizing the importance of the situation.

Sapphire: ... You either don't know, or care. I guess that's what you get for having a dog as a companion.

The bloodhound looked up, alert. She barked at Sapphire, who also looked at the sky. With a start, she took a few steps forward.

Sapphire: Bright orange cloud in the dark night sky, with the sweet, sweet scent of cinnamon... I think it's danger.

Mora hid behind Sapphire, barking at the cloud.

Sapphire: Don't worry, I'll protect you from the scary cloud of death.

Sapphire picked up Mora and continued walking..

Ruby finished telling the story to the listening Vampires.

Ruby: ... And we came across your village. I believe that's all.

Citrine: Impressive! I'm surprised you've come so far without getting badly injured.

Ruby: I'll... just take that as a compliment.

Just then, they heard the sound of feet from shadows behind them. Out come a few more Vampires with a Dragon.

Ruby: Barak! Am I glad to see you again. What are you doing here? Where's Midnight?

Barak: Coming along.

A figure crashed to the ground, which appeared to be Midnight. He lay there, panting, and slightly annoyed.

Midnight: Thanks for leaving me behind. I had such a fun time searching my way through the dark tunnels and passageways! Not to mention I have dirt in my eyes...

Ruby: Be quiet, Midnight. I'm sure there's a perfectly good reason why you got lost.

Barak: Yes, there was. He ignored our guide's advice to keep to the left at all times.

Midnight: It's not my fault someone doesn't understand the meaning of "slow down"...

Digger (purple tiger): That's rich, coming from a cheetah! Anyway, the names Digger. My buddy here is Duggar - we're the driller rescue team of GemRock Village!

Ruby: Drill rescue team?

Duggar (yellow tiger): Yeah, we help injured Vampires and animals that have gotten lost or trapped in the tunnels all over the island.

A few of the animals in the room barked, meowed, or squeaked in agreement.

Sunshine: So... how did you find those two?

Digger: That's still something we don't quite understand ourselves, to b' honest... We were digging tunnels, like we usually do, when Duggar wanted to take a break. We stopped, and then suddenly this HUGE light beam burst through where we were drillin', and this long crisp path led upwards.

Duggar: We went to investigate, when we found this cheetah and... not sure who the other kid is.

Ruby: That would be Barak, Champion Dragon who's hopefully going to save us from certain death.

The duo looked at each other, then back at Barak, who smiled and waved.

Digger: ... The, legendary Dragon champion?

Ruby: I thought I just said that, but yes. That would be this guy.

Duggar: ... Sorry, master Barak, for calling you a child... I should've been more respectful...

Barak: Don't worry! Anyone under a few thousand years is thought of as a child to my kind. I just hatched, so you have more right to call me by my age.

Midnight: A few thousand? I don't think anyone LIVES that long...

Barak: Dragons, a few lucky Ice Giants, wise Vampire Lords, and Alpha Winter Fangs.

Midnight: ... My point has been made.

Midnight walked over to Sunshine, and looked at her closely. He gave a frustrated shake of his head and walked towards Ruby.

Midnight: Now before you go on about "Where's Sapphire?" and such, we don't know. She didn't keep up with us, and she's probably wandering around lost in the forest.

Ruby: WHAT?!

Midnight: Hey, it's not like she's in danger or anything. For starters, she an UnMythic, AND she has that hound with her. She'll be fine. If anything, I think we can go on without her.

Ruby: How can you SAY things like that? One, shes family to me, Mythic or not. Two, the UnMythics will be after her as much as us, despite being who she is. And... you don't leave friends behind!

Midnight: Heh, I forgot you guys weren't thieves. This dumb thing about "no one gets left behind"...

Ruby: It's not dumb - we're stronger in a group, and we have different skills and talents that help pull us through in the time of need. Not that you'd care, because you're a criminal!

Midnight: I have all the skills I need to survive. Besides, what can Sapphire do?

Ruby: She... well... Oh, WHY am I having this conversation with you?! I'm going to get her.

Ruby made a motion back to the tunnel they came in, but Moon grabbed her arm.

Moon: No! You'll die if you go up there! Remember the cinnamon cloud floating towards us?

Ruby rolled her eyes, dug into her potion bag, and pulled out a shiny bottle with bright orange liquid. She drank some of the potion, before breaking her arm free.

Ruby: That will stop the cinnamon poisoning me for an hour.

And before anyone could say anything else, she dashed back up the tunnel they had came from.

Vampire: ... She's crazy.

A blood hound woofed in agreement, while Midnight just sighed.

Midnight: All that, for family...

Midnight looked in the direction Ruby went, with a war going in his head.

Sapphire continued to trudge through the dark woods, getting slightly more lonely.

Sapphire: I hope the others don't do anything rash just to make sure I'm alright... But, knowing them, they probably will.

A shout sounded nearby, which sounded a lot like Ruby's, calling for Sapphire's name.

Sapphire: What did I tell you, Mora?

A minute later, Ruby appeared from the forest growth, a little dirty, but otherwise fine.

Ruby: There you are, Sapphire!

Sapphire: Why hello there, dear cousin. I'm glad you at least remember me. But what are you doing? There's a... um...

Sapphire pointed to the sky, trying not to smile.

Ruby: Oh, yes I was warned of that. That's why I drank a Anti-cinnamon potion before I left the GemRock village hideout.

Sapphire: Should've known you came prepared.

???: FREEZE, or prepared to be... uh... What do they call it?

???: It don't matter, JUST GRAB THEM!!!

Ruby, not looking up to see who that was, pushed Sapphire deeper into the forest.

Bk2 Ch.3 Tunnels! - part2

Citrine led Ruby and Sunshine to the middle of the empty town. They came across a huge trapdoor, hidden by leaves and dirt. Citrine and Emerald lifted it up, revealing some makeshift stairs.

Citrine: Down here! We'll be safe from the cinnamon until it clears up in half an hour.

They hurried down the steps, and into a dark tunnel. They walked on for a few minutes, before Ruby's eyes suddenly adjusted to the darkness, and more.

Sunshine: How long is this tunnel?

Ruby: ... I think round about a few more minutes walk.

Citrine: Probably yes... How did you know?

Ruby: My night vision just kicked in, and I can see the end of the tunnel.

Sunshine: Strange... I still can't see anything.

Citrine: And remember Ruby, it's a fact that you get your night vision activation the slowest out of all of us!

Ruby: I thought that was Diamond...

Citrine: No, Diamond's the weakest.

Emerald: I have no idea what you guys are talking about, but I'm sure it's interesting.

Fang: It's not, don't worry.

Sunshine: Wait, I thought she was deaf... how does she know we're talking?

Citrine: I think she's feeling the vibrations. A bit like a bat, I guess.

Ruby: Grandma also says that her other senses are better then ours - she can see a lot further and has better agility than all of us cousins put together.

Sunshine: That makes sense, I guess. One sense gets cut off, the others get stronger.

Suddenly, the tunnel became wider, until they came to a wide room that seemed to be empty. A wolf figure came out of the shadows to greet them.

Moon (pink wolf): Hey, Citrine, Emerald! We're glad you're ok.

Citrine: Why wouldn't we be? We're not little kids anymore - you don't have to keep worrying about us.

Moon: Sorry, I can't help it... Who are your friends?

Citrine: Ruby's my cousin from EverWinter village, and... I don't know the cheetah.

Ruby: This is Sunshine, one of my companions going with me to the tallest mountain on the island.

Moon: You must tell us about it! Lupin, quick! Light a lamp!

A shadow moved in the darkness and lit a lamp that seemed to fill the whole room with light. Many Vampires and other animals were revealed from the invisible wall of darkness.

Ruby: Is all of your village in here?

Emerald: No, but more then half. Our village may not be strong, but we know how to dig tunnels and passageways in no time at all! The rest of us have been digging towards other villages to get information on the UnMythic takeover.

Ruby: Oh yeah... I remember it was you and Citrine playing pranks on us whenever we tried to visit!

Citrine: You were easy to fool, so we couldn't miss those chances!

Moon: So... are you going to...?

Ruby: ... Oh! Yeah, right... You guys want to know whats been happening for the past twenty four hours? Ok...

Ruby started to tell the story, while more explosions sounded above them.

Meanwhile, Midnight, Sapphire and Barak were running through the forest.

Barak: It looked like they were underground, and there was a lot of Vampires... So there must be a village nearby.

Sapphire: Yeah, cool. But how close is "nearby"?

Barak: Maybe a few miles...

Sapphire: ... If you're expecting ME to run all that way without stopping, then you're wrong.

Barak: We'll take rest stops every now and then.

A BOOM sounded off into the distance, making Midnight run faster.

Sapphire: Slow down, blacky! I can't keep up at your pace! My feet are still killing me as it is! And what did I JUST SAY to Barak?!

Midnight: You'll live.

Sapphire: Yeah, but I'll probably never walk again!

Midnight: Don't being over dramatic - you'll be fine!

Sapphire slowed down to a halt, and watched Midnight carry on without her. Barak, realizing Sapphire wasn't following, called to Midnight.

Barak: Midnight, stop! Sapphire-

Midnight: Are you coming or not?

Barak: Yes, but Sapphire has-

Midnight ignored Barak and continued running. The Dragon shook his head as he wandered back to Sapphire.

Sapphire: Impatient, isn't he? What's so big a deal that he practically abandons us?

Barak: I don't know, but I'll see where he's going.

Barak's eyes lit up, and a little way off in the forest, Midnight's changed colour.

Sapphire: ... Well~?

Barak: He's heading towards a village, I think.

Sapphire: Great. Anything else?

Barak: ... Yes!

Barak's eyes resumed normal colour and raced towards Midnight.

Sapphire: ... First Midnight, and now Barak. I have such great friends.

Sapphire got up and slowly followed after the Dragon, not really caring about anything. Mora followed close behind.

Barak tried running faster, and eventually caught up with Midnight. He grabbed his arm, and tried pulling him away from the village.

Midnight: What's the big idea? Can't you see-

Barak: The big cloud of cinnamon coming this way? Yes.

Midnight looked up, surprised. Barak continued trying to push Midnight along.

Midnight: Uh, no. I didn't see that.

Barak: Well, maybe it's a good idea to find somewhere safe until the cinnamon clears up.

Midnight: Where?! We're out in the open, and unless we find some kind of rabbit hole to dive into, I'm probably going to die!

Barak stopped, jumped into the air, and started drilling into the ground.

Midnight: What are you doing?

Barak quickly pushed Midnight into the hole, and quickly covered them up. He breathed a cold fire that sealed the loose dirt in place.

Midnight: ... Ok, now what?

Barak: We wait.

Midnight (already bored) started digging further in, while Barak watched in interest.

Barak: Midnight, can you move out of the way for a second?

Midnight: Whatever you say, Champ.

Midnight moved out of the way. Barak suddenly shot a huge ball of light from his mouth, making a long tunnel into the darkness.

Midnight: What do you think you're doing, you crazy Dragon?!

Barak: I thought you wanted to dig your way to somewhere else, so I gave a little help!

Midnight: A little? That was probably powerful enough to destroy a small mountain!

???: I think there's someone up there!

Suddenly, some faces popped up from the darkness, looking surprised to see Midnight and Barak.

???: ... What are you kids doing here? Don't you know there's a dangerous cloud mere inches above us? Come on, we need to get lower!

Barak (without hesitation) followed the Vampires down into the blackness. Midnight stumbled after them.

Bk2 Ch.3 Tunnels! - part1

Ruby and Sunshine continued to dash through the forest, trying not to trip over roots and branches. Suddenly, they came across a tall wall.

Sunshine: ... This must be a village!

Fang: How can you tell?

Ruby banged on the wall, and waited. A face suddenly showed from the other side, surprised to see them.

???: Ruby? What are you doing here?

Ruby: Ah, a cousin of mine I suspect.

The figure whistled, and a hidden gate opened nearby.

???: Come in, quickly! Before any of those UnMythics come here!

They dashed in, to see another figure. It came out of the shadows, revealing an orange kangaroo. The one on the wall jumped down, showing a green kangaroo.

Ruby: Hello Emerald, Citrine.

Citrine tackled Ruby to the ground, obviously happy to see her.

Citrine (orange kangaroo): Ruby! Do you have any idea how long it's been since we've last seen each other?!

Ruby: Unfortunately not, my dear crazy cousin.

Citrine: Three years, five months, eight days, and forty seven minutes!

Emerald (green kangaroo): Citrine, I don't think any of us really care.

Fang scurried up to Citrine. He waved at her, and she waved back. She got off Ruby and picked him up.

Citrine: (to the narrator) Very specific. I like you!

Fang: You'll only like him when he's not saying anything, I'm afraid.

Emerald: Enough small talk. We need to get back to the hideout!

Sunshine: What hideout?

Citrine: Hello~! UnMythics declaring war on us, need to hide before we die - where have YOU been?

Sunshine: Somewhere else...

???: Emerald! Citrine! Is everything alright?

Citrine: Yes, Moon. We're alright! Just our cousin and her friend.

Suddenly, a loud explosion sounded off in the distance. And then another. Everyone look up. A bright cloud started to fall down, and a wind started to blow towards them.

Emerald: What's that?

Citrine grabbed Emerald's arm, and start to drag her towards the center of the village.

Emerald: By the way you're pulling me to safety, I believe it's danger.

Sunshine: Didn't you hear that?

Emerald said nothing, so this time Sunshine faced Emerald and yelled right at her.

Sunshine: I said, DIDN'T YOU HEAR THAT?!

Emerald: No, I didn't. Can't hear at all, actually.

She pointed to her ears, and shook her head.

Emerald: I'm deaf. Couldn't hear an Ice Giant smashing mountains, whatever that means.

Before Sunshine could reply, Ruby pushed her along after the others.

Sapphire, Midnight and Barak were hiding up in the tree's, resting for a bit while Barak healed Sapphire's injuries.

Barak: You're lucky your feet aren't broken. You could've been more hurt.

Sapphire: I guess, but it wasn't really much of a "Soft landing".

Midnight: I would've been there to break your fall, but then I would probably have a broken back.

Barak: Broken backs are worst then sore feet.

Midnight: For some people.

Barak continued healing Sapphire in silence. They heard crunching sounds below them, and saw some UnMythic soldiers walking beneath them. Barak stopped, and remained quiet. They could hear them talking as they walked past.

UnMythic 1: The boss said this was the way they went?

UnMythic 2: Dunno, Joe. All the trees look alike, from the leaves to the roots. Can't tell one place in a forest to another.

UnMythic 3: And not to mention no footprints! You think they'd give us an easier time by staying on the ground, eh?

UnMythic 1: To be frank, I don't blame them. Who wouldn't want to run from us? We're going to rule this island in a few years, most likely!

UnMythic 3: Still, I wish they'd make our job a little easier. First guarding Vampires in prison, being told we have to go to war, and now looking for a bunch of bat kids!

UnMythic 2: Well, we were warned that they were trying to get to some tall mountain to unleash the Ultimate defense. We wouldn't want them turning the tides on us.

Sapphire and Midnight looked at each other in shock - not believe what they were hearing.

UnMythic 3: True. Can't argue with that.

UnMythic 1: Then let's do our job and look for them.

They continued to walk by, while Midnight, Sapphire and Barak hid in the shadows of the trees. After the UnMythics left, Sapphire hissed to Midnight.

Sapphire: (whispering) Someone's been betraying us!

Midnight: ... Don't look at me! Why would I help the enemy?

Sapphire: Don't worry, I don't suspect you... much. I just think that Sunshine character might be the one...

Midnight: Wait, who's sunshine?

Sapphire: The white cheetah that came along with us... Wait, didn't anyone tell you?!

Midnight: No, there was always something interrupting!

Sapphire: Ok, I'll ignore that for now. But for now, we need to get reunited with the Ruby. Barak, any other fun secrets that you can share with us?

Barak thought for a moment before replying.

Barak: Well, I won't be able to learn how to read into the future until I'm at least a hundred years old, I can barely fly, because of my injured wing... I can heal a little, but... I think I can...

Barak's eyes lit up, and Sapphire's eyes changed colour.

Sapphire: Barak, what are you doing?

Barak: I'm looking through your eyes.

Sapphire: What?

Barak: I can see everything you see.

Sapphire's eyes returned to normal, and Barak's stopped glowing.

Midnight: Well, what are you waiting for?

Barak concentrated for a minute before his eyes lit up again.

Sapphire: ... What can you see, o wise one?

Barak: ... Almost nothing... it's pitch black where Ruby's at! Hang on, I think I can activate Ruby's lesser night vision...

Barak's eyes glowed a little brighter, as he tried to figure out where Ruby and Sunshine were.

Bk2 Ch.2 Hide! - part3

Midnight and Barak were sprinting through the forest, not stopping for anything.

Midnight: Do y'think we lost them?

Barak turned to look, not seeing or hearing anything.

Barak: Maybe... nothing as far as I can tell.

Midnight: Is it safe enough to take a breather?

Barak: ... I think so.

Midnight slowed down to a halt, breathing heavily. Barak lightly jumped beside him, also a little tired.

Midnight: I'm glad those UnMythics stopped chasing us...

Barak: I think they're still after us. Maybe lost our trail, but...

Midnight: Stop talking for a minute, Barak.

Barak: Surrah... (Sorry...)

Everything was quiet, waiting for something to happen. The sound of a leaf falling, a crunch of a twig snapping... apart from that, it was peaceful.

Suddenly, a howl sounded throughout the forest. Midnight got up in an instant.

Midnight: ... I'm assuming you heard that?

Barak: Yes.

Midnight: ... Wanna find out what that was?

Barak: It might put us in more-

But Midnight ignored the Dragon and sprinted towards the noise. Barak sighed before pounding after him.

Sapphire landed on her feet with a jolt of pain. She fell down to her hands, trying to keep back tears of rage, as the UnMythic slid down towards her. She noticed Mora next to her, unharmed from the drop.

???: Not so tough, eh, Vampire scum?

Sapphire dared not open her mouth, for fear of crying was too strong. Mora did the speaking for her though, because she howled like a wolf, and attacked the UnMythic like a savage beast. The UnMythic tried fighting the blood hound off, but she kept coming back, biting viciously.

???: Call your mutt off, before I use a cinnamon bomb on you!

Sapphire smiled at that, still saying nothing.

???: Ok, you asked for it!

The figure got out a bomb, and threw it up into the air. It exploded, and cinnamon floated down, covering the ground in pretty golden dust. Sapphire continued smiling, as Mora sneezed and bounded over to her master. The UnMythic starred, stunned at Sapphire.

???: Why aren't you being affected by the cinnamon?!

She slowly rose to her feet, pain surged through her as she did so. Sapphire finally found her voice, and spoke quietly.

Sapphire: (whispering) Because I'm not a Vampire!

She tackled the UnMythic, knocking him to the ground. She snatched some cinnamon bombs from him, before pushing him back. Just then, she heard Midnight and Barak coming her way.

Sapphire: Don't get any closer, guys - you'll probably die if you do.

Midnight: (from a distance) You know best, mistress Sapphire.

Sapphire: No, seriously. This guy chucked a cinnamon bomb at me, so I might be poisonous for a while. And don't you DARE poke fun at me! I'm not doing this for nothing!

Sapphire punched the UnMythic in the face, while Barak partly flew, partly hopped, over to them, and shoved the UnMythic to the ground.

Barak: You have to go with Midnight, now. I'll catch up with you in a minute!

Barak tossed the UnMythic up into the air, and with a light beam from his mouth, shot him towards the rocky mountains. The Dragon turned to follow Sapphire as she slowly stumbled towards Midnight.

Midnight: What happened to you?

Sapphire: The UnMythic thought it would be a good joke to push me to my death with Mora... thankfully, it wasn't that far from the ground, but man my feet hurt!

Barak: I think I can help...

And so saying so, a light started to shine through Barak's paws, which seem to reflect off Sapphire. She started to feel less pain, when all of a sudden, a firework lit the sky.

Midnight: What was that!?

Barak: ... I think the UnMythic up there is signaling for help!

Sapphire: Better hurry up then, Barak!

Barak suddenly stopped emitting the light, and started pushing Sapphire to the forest.

Sapphire: Wh-

Barak: It's too dangerous here! We have to keep moving!

Midnight: So... we're running away?

Barak: And hiding!

Midnight: Ok... well.. do you think you're up for it Sapphire?

Sapphire: Just because I'm injured, doesn't mean you have the right to treat me like a baby! I'll probably be just fine.

Midnight: Alright, but don't blame me if you get left behind.

They hurried to the dark forest, and away from the open air.

Meanwhile, Ruby and Sunshine continued to dash through the forest. Finally, the speed potion started to wear off, and they slowed down.

Ruby: I think we lost them.

Sunshine: I would be surprised if we didn't!

Just then, something landed on Ruby's shoulder. She skidded to a halt and the thing crashed into a tree. She grabbed the ancient staff Sunshine was holding, and pointed it at the thing.

Fang: ... Ow.

Ruby: Fang! How did you get here? AHEAD OF US?!

Fang got up as Ruby lowered the staff, He jumped onto her shoulder, clearly unamused.

Fang: Never mind that - you have to keep moving!

Ruby: Any reason?

Fang: I spotted the others coming this way, with half a dozen UnMythics on their tails!

Ruby: You flew?

Fang: Well, a bird sorta... maybe picked me up and carried me off... to eat me. So I had a great view!

Ruby: Ok, good to know. Let's continue, then!

Ruby got out the speed potion again, and took a drink. She turned around to offer Sunshine a sip, but she was no where to be found.

Ruby: ... Sunshine! You should know this is no time to explore!

A minute later, Sunshine quickly came around a tree.

Sunshine: Sorry! I, uh... kind of had to go.

Ruby: That's ok, but next time tell me, ok?

Sunshine: Of course.

Sunshine took the potion in Ruby's hand, and drank a sip of it.

Sunshine: Ok... let's go.

They once again took off, not looking back behind them.

Bk2 Ch.2 Hide! - part2

The Vampire gang dashed through the trees, trying to escape the UnMythics chasing them.

Ruby: Split up! Maybe we can shake them off if we go separate ways!

Sapphire: It's worth a shot!

Midnight: Fine, but whatever you do don't get lost! Rule number six of the M.O.S.T. guild, if your partners gets lost, or caught, you don't come back for them!

Sunshine: Harsh...

Midnight: This is a harsh world - deal with it!

Sapphire whistled to Mora to follow after her. They leered to the right and headed nearer to the edge of the forest, and to the meadows.

???: THEY'RE SPLITTING UP!!! Don't let them get away!

Midnight got a burst of speed with Barak and went up ahead, while Ruby and Sunshine sprinted to the right, deeper into the woods. After some time, the footsteps behind them still sounded as they ran through the dark trees.

Sunshine: They're still after us!

Ruby: So I hear...

Sunshine: We can't do this forever, kangaroo

Ruby: Neither can they - they're probably carrying heavy weapons, which will be slow them down at one point or another... especially when chasing young healthy Vampires with only a stick and a bag full of potions!

Sunshine: This isn't a stick!

Ruby: Ok, a staff.

Sunshine shook her head as they continued running. Much to their surprise, the footsteps behind them kept pace with them after a few more minutes.

Ruby: Very persistent, I'll give them that...

Sunshine: At this point, we'll get to the edge of the island before losing them!

Ruby: ... Not without fighting them, we wont! Quickly, cause a distraction!

Sunshine: Wh-

Ruby: Don't argue, just do it!

Sunshine desperately looked around for something, anything, that might get the UnMythics attention. Suddenly, she dug into Ruby's bag, pulled out Fang, and threw up behind her. There was the sound of UnMythics crashing into trees as they continued to speed on.

Sunshine: Sorry, but using the spider was-

Ruby: We can't worry about him now! Quickly, drink this speed potion - we'll get away much faster!

Ruby pulled out a bright blue potion, stopped, and took a drink. She quickly gave it to Sunshine, who did the same

Ruby: Have you ever been at super speed?

Sunshine: I'm a cheetah... it doesn't last for long, but we are capable of doing it. Why?

Ruby: Prepared for ultra sonic speed!

Like a flash, Ruby took off deeper into the forest. A few moments later, she felt Sunshine behind her.

Meanwhile, Sapphire and Mora were scrambling up a mountain, trying hard to keep out of sight.

Sapphire: This was a stupid plan... Why on earth did we split up?!

Mora just yipped in reply, leaping on ledges after Sapphire.

Sapphire: Heh. Whatever you just said, I have no idea... but, I guess the dragon knows what he's doing.

Mora wagged her tail and jumped on Sapphire's back. She continued climbing, as the moon rose higher in the pitch black sky.

Sapphire: I wonder what happening to the others...

Mora whimpered. Sapphire looked up, hearing noises behind her - and it was getting louder!

Sapphire: No time to wonder! We better get moving, Mora!

Sapphire desperately tried to look for a way up, but failed. Finally, she spotted a ledge, with a hedge planted to the side of it.

Sapphire: It better keep us safe!

Sapphire slid down towards the ledge, trying to keep as quiet a possible. She crept into the bush and pulled Mora in.

Sapphire: (whispering) Now, let's just hope they don't notice us... keep quiet, Mora!

They stayed silent as the sounds got closer, Sapphire held her breath. Suddenly, someone grabbed her arm and pulled her out.

UnMythic Soldier: Who are you? Identify yourself!

Sapphire: Your worst nightmare!

Sapphire kicked the UnMythic in the chest, while Mora leaped out of their hiding place and bit his leg. He tumbled down the mountain, while Sapphire and Mora tried to climb up even higher.

???: Stop that Vampire!

Sapphire: (thinking) Well, it's a good thing they don't think I'm one of them... I guess...

???: Don't let it get away!

Sapphire: I'm not an it!

Sapphire picked up the closest thing (which was a rock) and threw it towards the nearest warm body - which hit him square in the face.

Sapphire: I have feelings, y'know!

Mora barked in agreement. The voice laughed back at her, making a motion to come closer.

???: You freaks almost destroyed us hundreds of years back in cold blood - I don't think you do...

The strange figure charged towards Sapphire, and pushed her. She lost balance, and started to fall down the rocky hill. Mora howled, as she too was kicked off the cliff after her master.
