Bk2 Ch.2 Hide! - part3

Midnight and Barak were sprinting through the forest, not stopping for anything.

Midnight: Do y'think we lost them?

Barak turned to look, not seeing or hearing anything.

Barak: Maybe... nothing as far as I can tell.

Midnight: Is it safe enough to take a breather?

Barak: ... I think so.

Midnight slowed down to a halt, breathing heavily. Barak lightly jumped beside him, also a little tired.

Midnight: I'm glad those UnMythics stopped chasing us...

Barak: I think they're still after us. Maybe lost our trail, but...

Midnight: Stop talking for a minute, Barak.

Barak: Surrah... (Sorry...)

Everything was quiet, waiting for something to happen. The sound of a leaf falling, a crunch of a twig snapping... apart from that, it was peaceful.

Suddenly, a howl sounded throughout the forest. Midnight got up in an instant.

Midnight: ... I'm assuming you heard that?

Barak: Yes.

Midnight: ... Wanna find out what that was?

Barak: It might put us in more-

But Midnight ignored the Dragon and sprinted towards the noise. Barak sighed before pounding after him.

Sapphire landed on her feet with a jolt of pain. She fell down to her hands, trying to keep back tears of rage, as the UnMythic slid down towards her. She noticed Mora next to her, unharmed from the drop.

???: Not so tough, eh, Vampire scum?

Sapphire dared not open her mouth, for fear of crying was too strong. Mora did the speaking for her though, because she howled like a wolf, and attacked the UnMythic like a savage beast. The UnMythic tried fighting the blood hound off, but she kept coming back, biting viciously.

???: Call your mutt off, before I use a cinnamon bomb on you!

Sapphire smiled at that, still saying nothing.

???: Ok, you asked for it!

The figure got out a bomb, and threw it up into the air. It exploded, and cinnamon floated down, covering the ground in pretty golden dust. Sapphire continued smiling, as Mora sneezed and bounded over to her master. The UnMythic starred, stunned at Sapphire.

???: Why aren't you being affected by the cinnamon?!

She slowly rose to her feet, pain surged through her as she did so. Sapphire finally found her voice, and spoke quietly.

Sapphire: (whispering) Because I'm not a Vampire!

She tackled the UnMythic, knocking him to the ground. She snatched some cinnamon bombs from him, before pushing him back. Just then, she heard Midnight and Barak coming her way.

Sapphire: Don't get any closer, guys - you'll probably die if you do.

Midnight: (from a distance) You know best, mistress Sapphire.

Sapphire: No, seriously. This guy chucked a cinnamon bomb at me, so I might be poisonous for a while. And don't you DARE poke fun at me! I'm not doing this for nothing!

Sapphire punched the UnMythic in the face, while Barak partly flew, partly hopped, over to them, and shoved the UnMythic to the ground.

Barak: You have to go with Midnight, now. I'll catch up with you in a minute!

Barak tossed the UnMythic up into the air, and with a light beam from his mouth, shot him towards the rocky mountains. The Dragon turned to follow Sapphire as she slowly stumbled towards Midnight.

Midnight: What happened to you?

Sapphire: The UnMythic thought it would be a good joke to push me to my death with Mora... thankfully, it wasn't that far from the ground, but man my feet hurt!

Barak: I think I can help...

And so saying so, a light started to shine through Barak's paws, which seem to reflect off Sapphire. She started to feel less pain, when all of a sudden, a firework lit the sky.

Midnight: What was that!?

Barak: ... I think the UnMythic up there is signaling for help!

Sapphire: Better hurry up then, Barak!

Barak suddenly stopped emitting the light, and started pushing Sapphire to the forest.

Sapphire: Wh-

Barak: It's too dangerous here! We have to keep moving!

Midnight: So... we're running away?

Barak: And hiding!

Midnight: Ok... well.. do you think you're up for it Sapphire?

Sapphire: Just because I'm injured, doesn't mean you have the right to treat me like a baby! I'll probably be just fine.

Midnight: Alright, but don't blame me if you get left behind.

They hurried to the dark forest, and away from the open air.

Meanwhile, Ruby and Sunshine continued to dash through the forest. Finally, the speed potion started to wear off, and they slowed down.

Ruby: I think we lost them.

Sunshine: I would be surprised if we didn't!

Just then, something landed on Ruby's shoulder. She skidded to a halt and the thing crashed into a tree. She grabbed the ancient staff Sunshine was holding, and pointed it at the thing.

Fang: ... Ow.

Ruby: Fang! How did you get here? AHEAD OF US?!

Fang got up as Ruby lowered the staff, He jumped onto her shoulder, clearly unamused.

Fang: Never mind that - you have to keep moving!

Ruby: Any reason?

Fang: I spotted the others coming this way, with half a dozen UnMythics on their tails!

Ruby: You flew?

Fang: Well, a bird sorta... maybe picked me up and carried me off... to eat me. So I had a great view!

Ruby: Ok, good to know. Let's continue, then!

Ruby got out the speed potion again, and took a drink. She turned around to offer Sunshine a sip, but she was no where to be found.

Ruby: ... Sunshine! You should know this is no time to explore!

A minute later, Sunshine quickly came around a tree.

Sunshine: Sorry! I, uh... kind of had to go.

Ruby: That's ok, but next time tell me, ok?

Sunshine: Of course.

Sunshine took the potion in Ruby's hand, and drank a sip of it.

Sunshine: Ok... let's go.

They once again took off, not looking back behind them.

Bk2 Ch.2 Hide! - part2

The Vampire gang dashed through the trees, trying to escape the UnMythics chasing them.

Ruby: Split up! Maybe we can shake them off if we go separate ways!

Sapphire: It's worth a shot!

Midnight: Fine, but whatever you do don't get lost! Rule number six of the M.O.S.T. guild, if your partners gets lost, or caught, you don't come back for them!

Sunshine: Harsh...

Midnight: This is a harsh world - deal with it!

Sapphire whistled to Mora to follow after her. They leered to the right and headed nearer to the edge of the forest, and to the meadows.

???: THEY'RE SPLITTING UP!!! Don't let them get away!

Midnight got a burst of speed with Barak and went up ahead, while Ruby and Sunshine sprinted to the right, deeper into the woods. After some time, the footsteps behind them still sounded as they ran through the dark trees.

Sunshine: They're still after us!

Ruby: So I hear...

Sunshine: We can't do this forever, kangaroo

Ruby: Neither can they - they're probably carrying heavy weapons, which will be slow them down at one point or another... especially when chasing young healthy Vampires with only a stick and a bag full of potions!

Sunshine: This isn't a stick!

Ruby: Ok, a staff.

Sunshine shook her head as they continued running. Much to their surprise, the footsteps behind them kept pace with them after a few more minutes.

Ruby: Very persistent, I'll give them that...

Sunshine: At this point, we'll get to the edge of the island before losing them!

Ruby: ... Not without fighting them, we wont! Quickly, cause a distraction!

Sunshine: Wh-

Ruby: Don't argue, just do it!

Sunshine desperately looked around for something, anything, that might get the UnMythics attention. Suddenly, she dug into Ruby's bag, pulled out Fang, and threw up behind her. There was the sound of UnMythics crashing into trees as they continued to speed on.

Sunshine: Sorry, but using the spider was-

Ruby: We can't worry about him now! Quickly, drink this speed potion - we'll get away much faster!

Ruby pulled out a bright blue potion, stopped, and took a drink. She quickly gave it to Sunshine, who did the same

Ruby: Have you ever been at super speed?

Sunshine: I'm a cheetah... it doesn't last for long, but we are capable of doing it. Why?

Ruby: Prepared for ultra sonic speed!

Like a flash, Ruby took off deeper into the forest. A few moments later, she felt Sunshine behind her.

Meanwhile, Sapphire and Mora were scrambling up a mountain, trying hard to keep out of sight.

Sapphire: This was a stupid plan... Why on earth did we split up?!

Mora just yipped in reply, leaping on ledges after Sapphire.

Sapphire: Heh. Whatever you just said, I have no idea... but, I guess the dragon knows what he's doing.

Mora wagged her tail and jumped on Sapphire's back. She continued climbing, as the moon rose higher in the pitch black sky.

Sapphire: I wonder what happening to the others...

Mora whimpered. Sapphire looked up, hearing noises behind her - and it was getting louder!

Sapphire: No time to wonder! We better get moving, Mora!

Sapphire desperately tried to look for a way up, but failed. Finally, she spotted a ledge, with a hedge planted to the side of it.

Sapphire: It better keep us safe!

Sapphire slid down towards the ledge, trying to keep as quiet a possible. She crept into the bush and pulled Mora in.

Sapphire: (whispering) Now, let's just hope they don't notice us... keep quiet, Mora!

They stayed silent as the sounds got closer, Sapphire held her breath. Suddenly, someone grabbed her arm and pulled her out.

UnMythic Soldier: Who are you? Identify yourself!

Sapphire: Your worst nightmare!

Sapphire kicked the UnMythic in the chest, while Mora leaped out of their hiding place and bit his leg. He tumbled down the mountain, while Sapphire and Mora tried to climb up even higher.

???: Stop that Vampire!

Sapphire: (thinking) Well, it's a good thing they don't think I'm one of them... I guess...

???: Don't let it get away!

Sapphire: I'm not an it!

Sapphire picked up the closest thing (which was a rock) and threw it towards the nearest warm body - which hit him square in the face.

Sapphire: I have feelings, y'know!

Mora barked in agreement. The voice laughed back at her, making a motion to come closer.

???: You freaks almost destroyed us hundreds of years back in cold blood - I don't think you do...

The strange figure charged towards Sapphire, and pushed her. She lost balance, and started to fall down the rocky hill. Mora howled, as she too was kicked off the cliff after her master.

Bk2 Ch.2 Hide! - part1

Ruby and gang were walking up to the top of Everwinter village. After a while, Ruby signaled for the others to stop. Three paths led in different directions - one to the mountains, one to the forests, and one to the meadows in between. Sunshine walked over to Ruby as she opened the map.

Ruby: Ok... we're right at the edge of Everwinter Village, and the quickest way to Dalin Solin mountain would be...

Sunshine: You shouldn't be looking for the quickest path, Ruby.

Ruby: Why not?

Sunshine: War is going on at the moment. Do you really think the UnMythics won't be scouting the entire island now? And word will go out that a couple of Vampires are trying to get to the tallest mountain on the island.

Ruby: Well, where do you suggest we go, then?

Sunshine took the map off Ruby and looked at it. She pointed to another pathway on the map, which led to the forest.

Sunshine: That would be the safest option. It's in the woods, so if we have to run and hide, the trees would protect us nicely - plenty of food there as well.

Barak suddenly jumped up next to them.

Barak: Hello, ma- I mean... Ruby. White one. What are you doing?

Sunshine: Deciding which way to go.

Barak: What are our choices?

Ruby: The quick route, which should take a few days, OR the safe route... which might take a week or so to get to our destination.

Barak thought for a moment before speaking again.

Barak: Well, the fastest path would be convenient, and while it would save more lives, it puts us in more danger then necessary, and more chance of getting caught. The safest way would be longer, and there is less chance of us being seen. But...

Ruby: But what?

Barak took the map from Sunshine, and pointed a claw to a narrow pathway, leading to the meadows.

Barak: This path would be quicker, and it's near the forest. The mountains are closer as well, so... if the forest is full of these... UnMythics, as you call them... then we'll have a plan B.

Ruby: ... I guess that's the way we'll go.

Sapphire and Midnight (who were sitting on a nearby log) got up as they saw Ruby starting to head down the middle path, and followed. The Dragon followed closely behind, along with Sunshine.

Just then, they heard a barking sound, and it seemed to be getting closer. They all looked up to see a red hound, running to them at top speeds with a spider on it's back. The hound jumped right at Sapphire, knocking her to the ground.

Sapphire: Mora! What are you doing here?

Ruby: I could say the same thing to the spider...

The spider jumped down from the dog and scurried up to Ruby.

Fang: Hello, Ruby! Aren't you glad to see me?

Ruby: Not really, to be honest.

Fang: ... Anyway. We're coming with you!

Ruby: No you're not.

Fang: But Grandma said so.

Ruby: I don't care what Grandma said, you're not coming!

And so saying so, Ruby picked up Fag and threw him back down the hill. Like a flash of lightning, Mora jumped off Sapphire and pounded after Fang. The hound snatched up the spider, tossed him up to her back, and raced back to the team.

Midnight: Well, looks like we've got a retriever on our hands.

Sapphire: I thought Mora was a blood hound...

Midnight: It was a joke, moron.

Sapphire: Good for you.

Ruby sighed and picked up Fang.

Ruby: ... I don't have a choice in the matter, do I?

Fang: Nope.

Ruby: ... Mora will always retrieve you no matter how far I throw you?

Fang: Yup.

Ruby thought for a moment before stuffing Fang into her potion bag.

Ruby: Right, then... let's move on.

Ruby continued to walk down the path. Sapphire whistled to Mora to follow her, and they all trudged after Ruby.

The moon shone brightly as the gang quickly traveled through the meadows. Midnight kept looking back, with a nervous look on his face.

Sapphire: Calm down, Midnight. No one knows what were doing just yet.

Midnight: I can't help it - my back is tingling, I keep hearing footsteps behind us...

Sapphire: You're paranoid.

Midnight: Maybe, but better paranoid than stupid.

Mora's ears pricked up suddenly. She looked around, obviously sensing something. Sapphire called to Ruby to stop.

Ruby: What's up?

Sapphire: Mora's detecting something... It could be UnMythics!

Ruby: Barak, can you manage to fly up and see if there's anything, or anyone, following us?

Barak: Churre teey... (I'll try...)

The Dragon tried to get airborne, and managed to fly up a few meters of the ground. He looked around for a bit before having a rough landing.

Barak: I can't see anything, but I can smell UnMythics nearby.

Midnight: How many?

Barak: More than us, that's for sure.

Sapphire: Should we run for it?

Sunshine: They'll know we saw them and they'll attack... or keep following us.

Barak: ... We run.

Sunshine: What? Why?

Barak: There's seven of us here, including the hound and spider... If we run into the forest, we have the advantage of cover and homeland.

Midnight: I've had to run through streets, sewers, and even half way across the island - exploring a forest is going to be easier than stealing a key in a unbreakable box!

Ruby: So... everyone agrees to run into the forest until we lose them?

Midnight: Agree.

Sapphire: Agree.

Sunshine: ... Agree.

Ruby: Good. We run in three... two... one...

She paused for a moment, looking behind before giving the order

Ruby: Go!

They all dashed into the forest. A few seconds later, they all heard footsteps racing behind them, and a command was heard...

???: STOP THOSE VAMPIRES!!!

They kept on going, not stopping for anything.

Bk2 Ch.1 Rise of the Champion - part2

The shadow dashed into the light, revealing a cheerful pale green dragon. It got up on its hind legs, almost reaching the height of Ruby, and waved. It started talking in fluent Vampish.

Baby Dragon: Ke! Aara fiy my massar, redde onu? (Hello! Are you my master, red one?)

Midnight: Wait... did the dragon speak-

Baby Dragon:  Antchi Vampi? O' coash! (Ancient Vampish? Of course!)

Ruby: ... It did, yes.

Midnight: But I thought the only ones that remembered that language were the Vampires from IvyWood village...

Baby Dragon: Actually, it belonged to the Dragons, but we taught it to the Vampires a few hundred years before we were driven out

Midnight: ... Heh. The more you know.

Sapphire: Even if you've only been around for a few minutes, I'm impressed at your intelligence

Sunshine: Respect the Dragon champion!

Baby Dragon: No, it's quite alright, white one. No need for respect in a time like this.

Kunzite: If that's the case, how about we give you a name?

Baby Dragon: A name?

Kunzite: Yeah! It's so we won't have to keep calling you "The Dragon champion" and such.

Midnight: What kind of name were you thinking then? Limey? Fruity? Cutey?...-

Grandma: Barak.

The green Dragon wagged his tail at that.

Baby Dragon: Yes! I like that. Barak seems like a good name.

Ruby: Then from now on, we'll call you Barak!

Barak: Do you have a name, master?

Ruby: Why yes. I'm Ruby! But you don't have to keep calling me your master, Barak.

Barak: Do the others have names?

Sapphire: Why wouldn't we? I'm Sapphire. The black cheetah is-

Just then, a loud rumble sounded throughout the island.

Midnight: Introductions for later! Right now, shouldn't we find out what that was?

Barak got back down on all fours and flew out of the door, and high into the night sky. Ruby, Sapphire and Midnight exited the house and watched him circle around the village. After a few seconds, he rocketed back to the ground.

Barak: There seems to be a strange looking building on wheels coming this way.

Ruby: Do you think you could take me up so I can see?

Barak: I could try.

The pale green Dragon gently grabbed Ruby's arms and started to fly up to the clouds. Higher, and higher they got, until Ruby could see past the forest, and most of the island. She spotted a huge wooden machine, which indeed looked like a house on wheels (without the roof).

Ruby: What... in the Vampire Lord's name, is THAT?

Midnight: (from down below) What do you see, oh leader?

Ruby: ... I'm not sure. Some kind of... UnMythic wooden battle horse. But less horse-like!

The strange machine was moving slowly, but surely, closer to the Village. Suddenly, from a large barrel at the front of the wooden device, it shot what looked like a bright beam of light towards the Vampire Village. Barak immediately let go of Ruby, and tried to dive for cover, but got hit by the strange light on his way down.

Ruby, on the other hand, reached the ground with a THUD and rolled on her back just as she landed. She appeared to be fine.

Sapphire: WHAT WAS THAT, BARAK!? Why did you drop Ruby when you were clearly ALMOST CLOUD HEIGHT!

Ruby: Calm down, Sapphire - I'm fine, I'm- OW...

Ruby held her hands close to her chest, obviously in pain.

Barak: It seems that your hands were damaged when I dropped you.

Sapphire: Wow, I would never have guessed!

Barak: I'm sorry, I honestly didn't mean to bring harm upon her.

Midnight: And you did a great job, fruity.

Just then, Kunzite rushed out of Grandma's house and jumped down the old steps towards Ruby.

Kunzite: Ruby! I saw you falling from the sky in the kitchen - are you ok?

Midnight: Shes most likely broken both wrists, so no. Probably not.

Kunzite: Hang on, I'll get something for that.

Before Ruby could say anything, Kunzite rushed back inside. Barak sat down near Ruby, growling apologetically. A few minutes later, Kunzite came back with some bandages, and a strange looking potion.

Ruby: Seriously, Kunzite... I'm fine.

Kunzite: Say that all you want, it's not going to stop me helping a fellow cousin in need.

Kunzite gently pulled Ruby's hands out and she poured the potion over them. After they dried a bit, she wrapped them up in snow white bandages.

Kunzite: Now, the potion should speed up the healing process, but don't do anything rash for a few weeks... at least with your hands, anyway.

Ruby: I'll try to remember.

Sapphire: Last time I checked, you were a fairy girl, not a doctor.

Kunzite: My brothers kept getting themselves hurt, and being the eldest, I had to take responsibility... by learning.

Ruby suddenly turned to Barak, and looked at his wing, which was slightly smoking.

Ruby: That beam of light... What was that?

Sunshine: That probably was the UnMythics secret weapon.

Midnight: And might I ask what it does to Vampires who get... well, into that light?

Sunshine: It should work just like cinnamon - we start coughing until we lose consciousness, lose our sight for a while, and if left with it too long... well, you get the idea.

Sapphire: Ah.

Ruby: Barak, are you ok?

Barak tried to lift off into the air, but landed in a nearby bush. After he recovered, he tried again, but almost crashed into a nearby water well. After a few minutes of failed attempts of flying, Sapphire tried to stop the dragon.

Sapphire: Ok, Barak... you can stop trying - I don't think your getting liftoff.

The Dragon stopped and looked sadly at his wing.

Midnight: I'm still not sure how that ray of light harmed you, to be honest.

Sunshine: The UnMythic's weapon is powered by Moon crystals, and if used in the wrong hands, it can be very dangerous to all Mythic creatures.

Sapphire: So... this weapon is dangerous to Vampires, Sea creatures, Ice giants, and Dragons... am I missing any other freaky monsters on this island?

Ruby: Well, unless you count Winter Fangs and the fire wolf, yeah. That would be all of us.

Kunzite: Come here for a second, Barak... let me look at your wing - I think I can help you.

Barak walked over to Kunzite and she examined his smoking wound. Grandma suddenly came out with the tan kangaroo.

Grandma: Children, I think Topaz has an important announcement to make.

Grandma nodded to the pale brown kangaroo, and she nodded in return. She turned her attention to the team, with a serious look on her face.

Topaz (tan kangaroo): Cousins, cheetahs, and champion Dragon. As you are aware, the war has just started and-

Midnight: SKIP TO THE POINT!!!

Topaz: ... You need to take the Ultimate defense to the tallest mountain to save the entire Vampire race. If you fail, we'll probably get driven or get killed by the entire UnMythic population. No pressure.

A couple of bats suddenly flew in from above, and dropped an ancient looking staff to Sunshine. One of the bats gave Ruby a note, which seemed to have come from the Vampire Lord.

Ruby: (reading) "Ruby and company, do as your cousin says. We are all counting on you!"

Midnight: Ok, you heard out Vampire Lord! Let's go!

Barak (who was patiently for Kunzite to finish inspecting him) leaped up and dashed towards them. He stood up on his hind legs, and wagged his tail in excitement

Barak: Does this mean we'll be going on an adventure?

Sapphire: Not just an adventure, my little Dragon - An EPIC adventure!

Kunzite: Now, Barak... don't fly for a few days and I think you'll be-

But before Kunzite finished her sentence, she noticed Barak's wounded wing started to heal, slowly but surely.

Kunzite: ... Ok, make that a day.

There was a burst of light and the UnMythic's weapon fired again, this time, nearer to the Vampire Village.

Grandma: Now, make sure you don't run into any UnMythics on the way...

Midnight: We wouldn't dream of it. But, y'know... if we happen to come across some, it would be kinda rude not to attack on sight...

Grandma gave Ruby a map and a bag full of potions. Ruby looked at the map, and found the tallest mountain on the island.

Ruby: Looks like we'll be traveling towards Dalin Solin mountain - the place where the Dragons used to live... east from here, by the looks of things.

Sunshine: Then we better move fast - time is of the essence!

Grandma: Good luck to you, kids!

Midnight: Who are you calling kids? And I don't need any stinking luck - I make my own!

Ruby rolled her eyes and charged down the path towards the mountains, with the two cheetahs, her cousin, and the champion Dragon.

 The Adventure, had just begun.

Bk2 Ch.1 Rise of the Champion - part1

Now, if this was an act, or a play, this would be the start of act two.

But this isn't an act... this is meant to be a BOOK.

So where do we begin if this is a book?

Well... let us start, like any normal person would, at the beginning... and as a very mad gentleman that can finish sentences would say, "And when you get to the end... Stop".

So... what are you waiting for? An invitation?... Ok. I'll stop talking so you can start reading.

-------------------------

A loud explosion sounded somewhere in a busy Vampire village known as Everwinter village. All the Vampires seemed to be in a panic, dashing indoors and slamming the doors behind them, and in a frenzy, tried to search for somewhere safe.

Everything was chaos.

Everyone was scared.

All of them? No. A small group of teenage Vampires were running as fast as they could towards an ancient Alchemist's home. Not for hiding, but for help. The leader of the gang, a red kangaroo, skidded, and sprinted down the path towards her grandma's house.

Ruby (red kangaroo): Grandma! Are you home?

A elderly black kangaroo opened the door, with a calm look on her face.

Grandma (black kangaroo): Yes, I just happen to be brewing some more Healing potions.

Sapphire (blue kangaroo): Are you serious? Didn't you hear that KA-BOOM?

Grandma: Oh, yes I heard it.

Sapphire: Then, may I ask why your not panicking?

Grandma: Because that wasn't from the UnMythics.

Ruby: Then... what-

Suddenly, a bright light flashed across the sky, looking like a green shooting star. It sped through the forest, and towards the UnMythic army. Like lightning, it shot an incredible light beam that seemed to be pushing the UnMythic army back.

Midnight (black cheetah): ... That thing is fast.

Sapphire: Understatement of the hour.

Ruby: ... What are we waiting for? We should-

Sunshine (white cheetah): No, we're staying here.

Ruby: But that thing might need our help!

Grandma: That thing would be the powerful Dragon's champion.

There was a stunned silence as everyone watched the blurred figure rocket across the skies, stopping the UnMythic army from getting any closer to the forest.

Sapphire: So... when a Dragon egg hatches, it makes a huge explosion...

Grandma: That's one way of putting it, yes.

Midnight: Cool.

Grandma: Indeed. But now you must come inside.

Ruby: Why?

Grandma: You all need a survival plan. This war could take years to end, and I think it's in everyone's best interest to stay alive.

Grandma walks back inside and everyone else follows her into the old house. A tan kangaroo was sitting at the table, reading books. She didn't look up as they entered.

Grandma: Right... as you should know, the war between us and the UnMythics has just started, and we need to help stop them.

Midnight: How?

Grandma: A good start would be to play by your strengths. For example - Midnight, you're a trained thief and happen to be an expert in breaking and entering without being noticed. You can use your skills to hide where they would never look, and spy on them.

Grandma turned her gaze upon Ruby.

Grandma: Ruby - You have a quick wit and are fast to react to a dangerous situation. You have acted as a leader ever since Midnight and Sapphire have been alongside you. You take note of all the threats before taking action, and you keep your teammates safe.

Sapphire: ... What can I do?

???: Shouldn't that be obvious?

They all looked up too see a small red spider at the top of a dusty bookcase. He jumped down, landed on Sapphire's head, and scurried down to her arm.

Sapphire: ... No, I'm afraid it's not, Fang. Please do tell, or I will have to get a baseball bat and hit you with it until you do.

Fang (red spider): ... You're brave.

Sapphire: What?

Fang: I said you're-

Sapphire: I heard what you said - but how?

Fang jumped down Sapphire's arm and looked up at her

Fang: While it's true you might be a little hotheaded, but you can charge into any scene without fear. You're an UnMythic! Your kind hates Vampires! You stood up to something that was against your natural nature... I think that's pretty brave.

Ruby: You know, Sapphire... the small sandwich addicted spider has a point in some ways.

Sapphire: But how does that help me... not become-

Midnight: Unalived?

Sapphire: Yeah. What he said.

Just then, a pink kangaroo (who was in the kitchen in the next room) poked her head around the corner.

Kunzite (pink kangaroo): The UnMythics won't suspect you being on the opposing side. Sure, you might be a teensy weensy bit underage to be working for your kind, but that's not the point!

Sapphire: Well, I guess I'll take your word for it.

Grandma: ... Oh, and I'm sure you're all be wanting to meet the Dragon's champion, if I'm not mistaken?

Ruby: We've been curious, yes.

Just then, a strange figure opened the door with a loud bang. Lightning flashed as it stared down upon the Vampires with wings outstretched and eyes glowing a golden yellow.

Undercover Vamparoo : Book two - Prologue

Everything turned upside down in a matter of days...

We've already lost more then we can count...

The UnMythics have gone too far...

Will this war end like last time?

Will we end up like last time?

Or will we disappear from existence?

--------------------------------------------

It was a dark and stormy night, around the Dalan Solin mountain pass. Two kangaroos, one red and one blue, and a black cheetah, were trudging up it's rocky path. Alongside them, was a red bloodhound, a small bat, a red spider, and a light green dragon.

The cheetah was badly injured. He had a broken arm, and bruised all over, and growled in pain as he walked. The two kangaroos, who were less hurt, walked in silence behind him, and seemed to be afraid of everything. The blue kangaroo suddenly stopped in her tracks, looking serious at the red kangaroo.

Sapphire: You guys go on ahead - me and Fang... we need to talk.

The red kangaroo shrugged and continued walking after the cheetah. The small red spider who was on the blue kangaroo's shoulder scurried down her arm, for a better view.

Sapphire: (muttering) What is it, Fang? I'm not stopping here just to look at the non-existent view.

Fang: We need to get Midnight some herbs. Those wounds are going to get infected if we don't do something!

Sapphire: What do you suggest I do then? We're on the run, and it's not like anything can grow on this wasteland they call a steep hill!

Fang: Well... maybe Barak  can do something?

Sapphire: He's far too young to know how to cure scratches, Fang. huolo, he can barely fly!

Lightning struck the ground nearby, and thunder sounded like heavy rocks hitting a big drum.

Fang: Doesn't Ruby have healing potions?

Sapphire: ... I can't answer, because I don't know. But-

Sapphire looked up, hearing the faint pounding of feet in the distance. She only waited for a heartbeat before running up to her two companions as fast as she could. Just as she reached the red kangaroo, she hissed into her ear.

Sapphire: (whispering) We have to move faster - NOW!!!

The kangaroos both ran up to the cheetah, and half pulling, half dragging, urged him to go faster. The small bat and green dragon both started flying faster, as they looked behind to hear the noise getting slowly louder. The hound heard it too, and dashed ahead of the group. Fear on all their faces.

Ch.34 Moon Crystals - part.3

Ruby burst into Grandma's house with the strange white cheetah. Grandma and Topaz looked up, surprised.

Grandma: Hello, Ruby. Didn't expect to see you back so soon. Who's your friend that came with you?

Ruby: This is... um...-

Sunshine: Sunshine.

Grandma: Nice to meet you, Sunshine!

Topaz: ... What's that I see glowing in your bag, Ruby?

Ruby: You might want to have a look at this.

Ruby took out a moon crystal and handed it to Topaz, who turned around it in amazement.

Topaz: Where did you get that? I demand to know!

Ruby: Sunshine found a whole area filled with moon crystals!... Oh, and she says that we have an Ultimate defense somewhere hidden in Everwinter village.

Topaz: Wh-

Ruby: But now, we have to tell the Vampire Lord. We only have so much time!

Sunshine: W-wait, I have to-

But before Sunshine or Topaz could say another word, Ruby dashed out with the white cheetah.

Ruby and Sunshine entered the Vampire Lord's meeting room, and waited.

Sunshine: ... How long are we going to wait here?

Ruby: It doesn't take that long for the Vampire Lord to appear.

Just as Ruby finished her sentence, there was a loud crash of thunder and rolling of lightning, as the Vampire Lord appeared in a flash of smoke, as usual.

Vampire Lord: I sense you have important news for me, Ruby.

Ruby: Indeed we do. Sunshine claims we have a Ultimate defense, that is powered by moon crystals, somewhere here in Everwinter.

Vampire Lord: Really? Well, tell me Sunshine... do you know where in Everwinter this Ultimate defense is?

Sunshine: It should be somewhere in this mansion, if I'm mistaken. Could be in this very room, in fact!

Sunshine walked around, looking over everything carefully, until she stopped at a rusty chest that seemed to have been left forgotten for years.

Sunshine: What's this?

Vampire Lord: An old family treasure.

Ruby: Do you know what's inside it?

Vampire Lord: Unfortunately, no. The Vampire who gave us this never had the key to it.

Ruby: And... you haven't thought about trying to use lock picks?

Vampire Lord: Oh yes, many times. All of them broke and didn't seem to do anything.

Sunshine: ... I'll return shortly. I think I can find the key to it, but don't take my word for it.

Ruby: Needle in a haystack?

Sunshine: You could say that.

Just then, the door opened and Midnight and Sapphire walked in.

Sapphire: Hey, Ruby! Got a note from Grandma saying you were at the Vampire Lord's mansion. Thought it would be at least polite to come and find you... who's that girl with you?

Ruby: This-

Sunshine: What's that around your neck, cheetah?

Midnight: What, this?

Midnight took off the strange object from around his neck, and showed it to the Sunshine.

Midnight: Just an old trinket that I've had ever since I can remember. Nothing that special.

Sunshine: Would you mind... if I borrowed it for a second?

Midnight shrugged and gave the white cheetah the necklace. Sunshine looked at it carefully for a bit, before taking a strange item out of her bag. She slowly connected the two pieces together, and with a small burst of light, fitted perfectly, looking like a key.

Midnight: What did you-... Give me back my useless trinket!

Sunshine: If it's useless, why do you want it? And besides, you can't get it back. They're merged together now - can never be pulled apart until peace is in control again. Not to mention I need it to open the chest to get the Ultimate defense.

Sapphire: (muttering) And this is why I never trust strangers with my things.

Sunshine walked over to the old chest and stuck the key into the keyhole. She carefully opened the lid and took out a wooden staff.

Midnight: ... I gave you my necklace, for THAT?

Sunshine: Don't question greatness. This is for a good cause. And you act just like my brother...

Midnight: Sorry, but did you say something?

The white cheetah ignored Midnight, and gave the staff to the Vampire Lord.

Sunshine: If you activate this with moon crystals in the middle of the battlefield, we can protect the soldiers from the UnMythics Ultimate weapon. Thankfully, the Silver moon was tonight, so we came across some on our way here.

Vampire Lord: You are wiser beyond your times, young Vampire. How do you know all of this?

Sunshine: Even I don't know, your Lord.

Vampire Lord: ... We'll have to-

Midnight: Sorry, but what's your name, snow cat?

Sunshine: I'm... My name is-

Just then, Captain Slash burst through the door with a loud bang. He rushed in, and saluted the Vampire Lord for pardon.

Slash: M'lord! The UnMythics! They've been spotted! Hundreds of them advancing towards the forest - most likely looking for a fight!

Vampire Lord: Curses... they must have decided to attack earlier to surprise us... Sound the alarms! Arm your men! Get ready for war!

Captain Slash saluted again before dashing out, yelling out orders. There was a loud BOOM, and the whole village shook.

The war... had clearly started.

Ch.34 Moon Crystals - part.2

THIS IS AN IMPORTANT MESSAGE FROM APPLESTORM

Hi, guys! I've come back from holidays and from now on, I'll be trying to do regular post on Undercover vamparoo again!

That is all. Thank you for taking a minute out of your day to read this.

Ruby was trying to throw her dagger at the target Jack assigned her, but kept missing.

Ruby: (thinking) Can we end this lesson already? It's starting to get a little painful.

Just then, Jack came around to check on Ruby.

Jack: How you're doing?

Ruby: Not so great. I'm holding it the exact way you said, but I think I'm just not... accurate enough to hit anything... Unless you count the ground.

Jack: Well, show me how you throw, then.

Ruby tossed her dagger at the target, but missed by a few inches.

Ruby: See? I can't even hit the target.

Jack: As you said, you lack accuracy. But you also need a little more strength in your throw if you want to make it sound.

Ruby: Well, unless I use a strength potion from my Grandma, you're not going to get anything stronger from me.

Jack: While that would be cheating in reality, and possibly unfair to the others, but on a mission, I see no reason why not.

Ruby: Now if there was only a way to create an Accuracy Potion.

Jack: Just don't expect potions to help your every need, Ruby. We are capable of doing great things WITHOUT help from over flavorful drinks.

Ruby: I won't... but unless you have any better idea on how I can improve my aim, there's not much else I can go to.

Ruby continued training in silence.

After training, Ruby and Midnight decided to go back to Grandma's house for some lunch.

Midnight: When you get the hang of it, dagger throwing isn't... that difficult, to be honest.

Ruby: Good for you. You graduated with ease.

Midnight: Come off it, you weren't that bad! Just... didn't have great aim.

Ruby: Yes, and aim was one of the keys for success for that lesson!

Midnight: You just needed something to eat, that's all! We only had a few burnt muffins for breakfast - it wasn't all that appetizing, if I'm going to be fair.

Ruby: You? Fair? Since when?

Midnight: Since the last time I said I was. Now let's go back home to have a PROPER meal.

Ruby: OK, fine.

Just as Ruby and Midnight turn a corner, Grandma's house appeared into view. They went inside to find Grandma, Kunzite and Sapphire eating thick soup.

Grandma: You two are just in time! Kunzite just finished making Hot Redroy stew!

Ruby: Sounds good! After the hard task of learning how to throw a dagger, it's nice to come home to something you like!

Midnight: Great. You enjoy that. I'll be off doing something else then.

Grandma: You're not staying for lunch?

Midnight: I've got something important to do.

Ruby: I thought you wanted something to eat?

Midnight: No, I said that YOU needed something to eat.

Grandma: Very well, then. See you later then, Midnight.

Midnight quickly left the house and dashed deeper into the village.

Ruby (after training a bit more) was walking through the Everwinter forest. The moon was rising, meaning the last day before the war was almost over. Everything around Ruby was quiet as she wandered around in the cold jungle trees.

Ruby: (thinking) All will be chaos tomorrow... and there's nothing any of us can do to stop that.

White cheetah:  Um, excuse me...

Ruby looked up to see a white cheetah nearby, holding a rainbow crystal.

White cheetah: Can you tell me where Everwinter village is?

Ruby: Just follow this path and you'll get to it, but if you want, I can show you the way. Why do you ask? This isn't exactly the best time to travel around the Island.

White cheetah: It's... nothing important.

Ruby: ... If you don't mind me asking, what's that you got there?

White cheetah: This? That's just a moon crystal I found.

Ruby: A MOON CRYSTAL?! I thought those only appeared every ten years, and in different places every time!

White cheetah: They do. I just found a dozen a few yards from here and decided to take some with-

Before the strange cheetah could say any more, Ruby raced passed her and through the forest. She skidded to a halt as she came across a dimly lit area where crystals were scattered around like diamonds in a rock.

Ruby: As Midnight would probably say... Jackpot!

Ruby opened her bag and started picking up moon crystals.

Ruby: Won't the others be surprised when they see I've got a dozen of these with me!

The white cheetah (who had followed Ruby) was standing over her, watching in interest.

White cheetah: You seem particularly excited about Moon crystals. Why is that?

Ruby: Well, a cousin of mine said that they were both powerful to Vampires and UnMythics alike. And we need all the power we can get right now.

White cheetah: Why?

Ruby: Well... if I'm correct, a war will start between the Vampires and UnMythics... tomorrow. They have the Ultimate weapon, while we have nothing.

White cheetah: That's not true. We have the Ultimate defense!

Ruby: The Ultimate... defense?

White cheetah: Yes. It's hidden somewhere in Everwinter village, and it's powered by Moon crystals. Same as the Ultimate weapon.

Ruby stopped in her tracks and looked up at the cheetah.

Ruby: How do you know this?

White cheetah: That's... kind of private, actually.

Ruby: This is critical information to the Vampires! We HAVE to tell the Vampire Lord!

And so saying so, Ruby grabbed hold of the strange cheetah, and made a dash to Everwinter village.
