Bk2 Ch.5 Dungeons and creatures - part3

Midnight felt his way through the darkness, making sure he wasn't going to crash into anything. Suddenly, he heard a low growling sound far off. He stopped, and became dead quiet.

It sounded again, but fainter. He began sneaking again, when a flash of light hit him in the eyes. Midnight covered his face from the bright light.

Midnight: OW!!! My eyes - they burn!

Something kicked him in the stomach, and pushed him against the wall. Midnight squinted his eyes, only to see an UnMythic soldier.

Midnight: Of course... instead of getting a monster, I get a sissy guard dog...

UnMythic soldier (red deer): HEY! It's not like I ASKED to do this! Creepy bat cat...

Midnight: I'll have you know I'm pure night cheetah. Can't you see how handsome I am? The long fine tail of pure majesty?

UnMythic soldier: I don't care about what you look like! It's...  it's what you are!

Midnight: Ok, so what's the difference between a Vampire and an UnMythic?

UnMythic soldier: Vampires are blood thirsty freaks that have no feelings for others! They control us Kredian's into doing their bidding! It's not-

Midnight: Hold up just a minute... don't you mean, UnMythics? Not this... krilldins or something.

UnMythic soldier: It's Kredian's. The place where we originally came from!

Midnight opened his eyes, surprised.

Midnight: Um... mind telling me about it? Sounds like a good bedtime story.

UnMythic soldier: No. You don't deserve to know!

Midnight: Then mind loosening your grip on my throat? It's getting a little hard to breath...

UnMythic soldier: Good! That's exactly what I want!

The UnMythic pressed harder, right to the point where Midnight could barely get air. Everything for him started going black.

Suddenly, something attacked the UnMythic, making him let go of Midnight. He slumped to the ground, gasping for breath. He looked up to see a small, furry animal tackling the UnMythic.

Midnight: Good grief, there is a monster down here! Good - that ensures that treasure can't be far behind!

Suddenly, Midnight realized that the "monster" was actually Mora. She defeated the UnMythic soldier, and backed him into a corner.

Midnight: ... You disappoint me, Mora. Thanks for saving me, but still. Doesn't change that fact.

The blood hounded barked with enthusiasm. The UnMythic make an attempt to kick her, but she dodge and bit him back.

Midnight: Don't upset the hound, moron. Every dog is capable of murder if you hurt it. So don't try anything you might regret! Unless you want to become a Vampire...

Mora bit the UnMythic again before following Midnight down the tunnel. The growling noises still sounded faintly, making Mora's ears prick up.

Midnight: What's up, Mora?

The hound looked up at the ceiling, then back at Midnight.

Midnight: ... Ah... dirt. I see.

Mora barked in agreement and continued listening. They turned a corner and saw a faint light, and a huge shadow. Mora growled, and stepped behind Midnight.

*****

Ruby and Co continued waiting for Midnight and Mora, but after twenty minutes of waiting, Ruby gave up.

Ruby: I'm afraid to say it, but we'll have to go on without them.

Sapphire: The rest of you can. I'm staying here - I'm not leaving Mora!

Ruby: Oh for crying out loud... We're not leaving anyone else! We've already wasted enough time on Midnight, and we have to go on!

Barak came back from his scout, obviously amused.

Barak: Nice ruined castle, up there. Loads of UnMythics guarding it though. They ran off after I fired a light beam at them.

Sunshine stepped back from Barak, a little dazed.

Sunshine: U-UnMythics?

Sunshine started walking a little further from the group.

Ruby: Where are you going?

Sunshine: Just give me a minute. I'm thinking of something!

Sapphire: ... Ok... so, did you see anything else on your "scout" Dragon boy?

Barak: My name is Barak, isn't it?

Sapphire: I was being... never-mind.

Barak: Uh... no, I guess I didn't see anything more then that.

Ruby: Strange... If there was a monster hiding in that castle, then why are there UnMythics guarding it? They must think it's pretty safe to be there at all...

Sapphire: Maybe they haven't heard? They are oblivious to "myths" and "stories" from the ages, after all.

Ruby: You weren't!

Sapphire: Kinda hard to ignore them if you spent your young childhood with a Vampire... makes you believe weird things.

Ruby: Yeah, I guess...

Sunshine came back at that moment, very concerned.

Sunshine: We should continue our journey - with, or without the cheetah and dog.

Sapphire: Argh! Don't you get it? I'm not leaving until they are back!

Ruby: Look, if you're that worried, you can stay if you really want...  I just don't want to leave you behind.

Sapphire: I appreciate that, but I'll be fine. I can run for my life if there's anything dangerous.

Ruby: Ok... well... see you later, I guess.

Ruby, Barak and Sunshine started walking up the hill, and towards the mountains, leaving Sapphire on her own.

Undercover Vamparoo's Anniversary

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!

... To the blog.

You knew this was coming eventually! The Anniversary of Undercover Vamparoo is here!

These pictures took me hours of careful work and patience, so I hope you lot of pirates enjoy them!

I hope you take Sunshine's advice - stay forever, but with the likely chances of getting bored. So bring cake!

Ruby: Keep out of trouble and listen to your elders.

Sapphire: Party on and hug small animals!

Midnight: Where there's loot to be stolen, I would've already done it!

Sunshine: As the newest member of the main cast, I look forward to adventuring with these mad Vampires!

Fang: I love sandwiches!

Barak: And may the force be with you

Uh, wrong movie Barak...

Bk2 Ch.5 Dungeons and creatures - part2

Barak charged ahead of Ruby, and caught up to Midnight. Not aware of the fact that the others were getting a little far behind.

Barak: Uh, Midnight? Don't you think you should stop and let the others catch up? We're getting ahead by a lot...

Midnight: Don't bother with the others - treasure is on my mind!

Barak: But shouldn't we stick together as a team?

Midnight: Forget that. Just a little closer!

Barak: But... Ruby-

Midnight got a burst of cheetah speed, and raced on, leaving Barak behind. He gave up and hopped his way back to the others, who were still trudging up the hill.

Barak: He seems focused on getting to the tower. I can't even make him look at me!

Ruby: Then grab his tail and drag him back here! And fast! My feet still haven't fully recovered.

Barak started to charge back up to Midnight, but couldn't see him anywhere. He stop, dumbfounded, as the others caught up to him. Ruby looked around, confused.

Ruby: ... Where is he?

Barak: I was pretty sure he was just here...

Sapphire: Wonderful - the last thing we need is to waste time finding him.

Sapphire began to take a few steps forward, but Barak quickly pulled her back.

Sapphire: Ow! Barak, what did you do that-

She saw something odd in the grass up ahead. She got on all fours, and crept closer to it with Mora. When they got to it, they looked down, only to see a hole, where they guessed Midnight used to be.

Sapphire: ... MIDNIGHT! Are you down there?

There was no answer. Mora circled the place, restless.

*****

Midnight groaned, not quite sure where he was. He put his paw to his head, only to find it slightly bleeding. He slowly got up, and looked around him.

Midnight: ... I seem to be in a dark cave...

He looked up, to see a hole that appeared to lead back into the outside world. Sounds seemed to be coming from up there, but his brain was still too fuzzy to make them out.

Sapphire: (above) Midnight! Can you hear me?

Midnight: WHAT?! I'm afraid you're gonna have to speak up!

Sapphire: (above): Oh, good start! He's alive.

Ruby: (above): WHAT ARE YOU DOING DOWN THERE, YOU UNLUCKY CAT?!

Midnight: I said speak up, not yell!

Barak: (above) Are you alright?

Midnight: Could be worse!

Ruby: (above) That doesn't answer my question, blacky.

Midnight: Hang on, I'll try to find a way out... You lot stay here.

Sunshine: (above) Hey, don't you dare wander off! It isn't fair to the rest of us!

Midnight ignored them and started to carefully explore his now dark underground prison.

Midnight: There doesn't seem to be an exit anywhere...

He continued going in deeper, hearing rumbling sounds far off.

Meanwhile, the others were deciding what to do.

Sunshine: What do we do?

Ruby: Well, we have the option of leaving him, or wait for him to die down there.

Sunshine: That's horrible!

Ruby: Well, it's not like Fang can do anything for him. It's far too dangerous to go down there ourselves, and if Barak was to clear a way for us, the cave might fall down on top of Midnight!

Sapphire: So... we're leaving him?

Ruby: Can you think of anything else?

Sapphire: Yes. Mora, go off and find Midnight - on the double!

The blood hound yipped and scurried down the hole.

Sunshine: So... we lost our only tracker, for him.

Sapphire: Yeah. Being nice has it's drawbacks.

Ruby: Meanwhile, I still think we should continue. That's what Midnight would do, after all.

Sapphire: So your basically playing by the thieves "rules".

Ruby: I never said that!

Sapphire: "When someone gets caught, or left behind, you go on without them".

Ruby: ... Fine! We wait for fifteen minutes. Barak, please scout ahead.

Barak: Ok!

The green Dragon happily skipped up the hill, and (without knowing it) hummed an ancient Dragon war song.

A normal day for the Bunny Buddies

Hello guys! I won't bother mentioning my name, only because you clearly know who it is!

I remember a time, long ago, where I had a gang of Secret Agent rabbits, protecting the world from minor evils... such as stopping a slightly mad fox from setting off a stink bomb that has a mind control effect on humans.

... You can ask, but I don't have an answer to it.

Instead, here's a picture of them (mostly Flame) trying to get Nikki so that she may have her just desserts, and none of the sandy kind.

(I think I was meaning to add shadowing and stuff, but I never got around to it.
Oh well! Maybe next time.)

... What? Oh, no. That's not blood - far from it! It's red paint! Why does Nikki have red paint and cold lettuce soup in her fur, I hear some of you ask?

Well... that would just ruin the story! And I can't do that, can I? Off to head cannon land for you lot if you're curious!

(I just realized I post something "Non UV" every Saturday night. Maybe this could be a thing?)
(The only difference in this picture, compared to the comics, is that Browny had a gender swap... AGAIN.
Oh, and Spike has a leather jacket now! Cool, eh? Although it's not like you knew if he had one or not...)

I challenge you

Hey you.
........
Yes, you!

The amazing person(s) who is reading this right now, this minute!

I have a challenge for you, and you cannot back down - Whether you like it or not!

A special day is arriving in seven days, and we have to do something about it.

Draw a picture, celebrate with friends, make a toy from you're favorite Animal Vampire, bake a vampire(ish) cake... It doesn't matter what you make or do, whether it's pubic or private.
I challenge you to do it.

And to those that are thinking "It wont matter, no one will know I did nothing"... well, it does. Even if it's a little note to Undercover Vamparoo, hidden under your bed, it'll still count.

You have seven days.

Carry on.

Bk2 Ch.5 Dungeons and creatures - part1

Early the next morning, Ruby got up, and out of bed. It took her a minute to realize where she was, and why. She breathed deeply before doing anything else.

Ruby: Time to get moving again, I guess...

She walked over and kicked Midnight's bed. He didn't move. She kick again, this time, Midnight sat bolt upright, alert.

Midnight: I SWEAR I DIDN'T STEAL THE MAGICAL KEY, S- whoa!

He fell out of bed. She prodded her foot at him.

Midnight: ... I'm awake.

Ruby: Good. We're leaving in fifteen minutes - we have to keep moving!

Midnight: But we're safe here! What's the rush, red?

Ruby: Have you forgotten? Hundreds of Vampires are being captured and killed by the hour. We can't waste any more time then we have too.

Midnight: Ah... yeah, I did forget, actually.

Ruby: ... Wake the others up. That's an order.

She left the room, leaving Midnight with the others (who were still sleeping). Something landed on his shoulder, which seemed to be Fang.

Fang: Good morning, Midnight. Had some nice nightmares?

Midnight: Yeah. Stealing Sunshine's key necklace thing.

Fang: Do you know why?

Midnight: Yeah, because I actually did last night.

Fang: Wow! But do you think that's a good idea?

Midnight: What do you mean, "good idea"?

Fang: Well... the last time you stole a girls item, she went on a murderous rampage, and would've probably done some serious damage if you hadn't given it back.

Midnight: Yes, well... Sunshine isn't a scary emo with anger issues.

Fang: ... Ok, I'll have to agree with that, but just be careful.

Midnight: No promises. Oh, and Fang...?

Fang: Yes?

Midnight: Wake the others up for me, will you?

Fang: Sure!

Fang jumped down from his shoulder and scurried into Ruby's bag. Midnight left the room, and was greeted by one of the younger of the sisters.

Xoco: Hello, child. Had a nice rest?

Midnight: I guess.

Xoco: If you wish, there is some breakfast on the table for you to have.

Midnight: I'll keep that in mind.

Suddenly, there was a burst of light, and smoke started to drift into the hallway. Sunshine screamed and dashed out of the spare bedroom. Sapphire followed close behind with Ruby's bag.

Sapphire: THAT CURSED SPIDER!!! He set the room on fire! Probably with one of Ruby's potions, as well!

Ruby appeared from the dinning room, eyes flaring. Fang sped through the house, fire coming from his small mouth. The elder sister came with a water bucket and tipped it over him. Fang became surrounded by steam, which suggested that the effects wore off.

Ruby: FANG! What in the name of the Vampire Lord WERE YOU THINKING?!

Fang: Waking up the others so that we may continue our journey?.

Ruby: But with fire? That was just stupid!

Fang: Yeah, but I did wake them up!

Ruby: You could have easily burned them! And-... Midnight, did you set him up to the task?

Midnight: No, he did it from his own free will. I had nothing to do with it.

Ruby: Yeah, a likely story. I can see through your lies, Midnight.

Midnight: I beg to differ.

Ruby: ... I'll have a word with you later. But right now, let's just have breakfast so we can get going.

Sunshine gave a sigh of relief as she followed Ruby into the dinning room to eat breakfast. Sapphire picked up Fang, and followed close behind. Midnight shook his head and went outside.

After the others finished their quick breakfast, Sapphire found him under a nearby tree. She walked over to him, unsure of what he was doing.

Sapphire: Hi, blacky. What are you doing?

Midnight: None of your business.

Sapphire: ... Ah. Brooding I see.

She turned around and started to head towards the front of the cottage.

Sapphire: Well don't over do it! It 'aint healthy! Oh, and we're leaving. If you don't want to get left behind, I suggest you hurry up.

Midnight rolled his eyes and followed Sapphire to the front of the house. They saw Ruby and Sunshine waiting, ready to go. Barak flew down from the roof of the house.

Ruby: About time. Now let's go before something else catches on fire!

Barak: Surrah... (Sorry...)

Ruby: Not you, Barak. You didn't do anything wrong.

Midnight: Again, not my fault.

Ruby: It actually is, but I'll ignore that for now.

Ruby opened the map, and found where they were. She pointed over the trees to a hill, that had a ruined tower on top.

Ruby: We have to aim for that ruined tower over the forest covered hills. Dark Sun mountain should only be a few more days travel if we take that shortcut.

Sunshine: ... That tower... you mean, the tower over there?

Ruby: Is there a problem?

Sunshine nodded her head as she continued to look into the distance.

Sunshine: I heard a rumor that there is a terrible beast that guards some sort of treasure there.

Sapphire: Don't worry, unless it rains, I doubt we'll have any reason to-... where's Midnight?

Barak: Um... I think...

The Dragon pointed towards the direction they were going, and saw Midnight, running as fast as he could towards the ruined tower.

Ruby: Oh, that blooming thief... MIDNIGHT! GET BACK HERE!!!

But the cheetah just sped on. Ruby gave chase, with Sapphire and Mora on her heels. Sunshine, desperate, followed them through the forest. The sisters looked on in amusement as they vanished from sight.

Kaya: Xoco? Do you think they'll find out whether...-

Xoco: I'm sure in due time. But right now, let's just trust the prophecy.

Kaya: But I'm worried... what will happen if-

Xoco: We both know very well it will. We couldn't do anything to prepare, or warn them.

Kaya: Perhaps not... but I would've felt better.

Xoco: Would you rather us be driven out forever?

Kaya: You know that's not what I meant. But they are just children... hardly adolescents, I shouldn't wonder.

Xoco: But they have strong spirits. They'll make it.

Kaya: But the UnMythic girl... what will happen to her?

Xoco: ... Trust the prophecy.

The elder sister remained silent, as they started on into the forest.

The return of... someone that writes for this blog

Good day, chaps! I have returned, and with the promise of the comic!

... Ok, so I found this while I was looking through my old drawing books. I came upon this, remembering when we had just defeated the next gym leader (can't remember name right now, but it was the fairy gym).

Devin had just evolved into Umbreon, after defeating the Sylveon. Everyone in the PC is celebrating, except him. Ramona tries to cheer him up bu forcing him to dance with her. Guess how well this works out.

... Ok, I'm sorry about the quality, but you must admit it's kinda cute! (I hope the boy readers haven't thrown up because of this...)\

(If you manage to find a song that fits this perfectly, you get a free fake cookie!)

Four Seasons

Hello, guys! AppleStorm here. I created a picture earlier today (could be tomorrow for you), so I decided to share it with you guys!

For those that remember my Pokemon Y team, yes - that is Devin and Ramona, two of the five alphas in the games/comics. But to answer your other likely question, NO. Devin and Ramona are NOT a couple! Maybe boyfriend and girlfriend when no one is looking, but nothing more then that.

Dusk (Girl eevee) was an orphan that landed on the kalos shores from a faraway place. No one accepted her, so Devin adopted her as his younger sister. Rebbecca (Girl Pichu) is the offspring of Ramona and her "Ex Mate", Romeo (Male Riachu).

If you're wondering why Devin isn't in the Winter picture, it's simple - Both Devin and Ramona are Alphas, meaning they patrol the PC and making sure everything is in check (also keeping an eye on the "Troublemakers"). Devin is the leader in winter season, and Ramona in Autumn/Fall.

I know I'm terrible at drawing the Pikachu line, but I'm even more so with birds. So just deal with it.

An... "Interesting" holiday

Hello, people. So... quick life update, I guess we should call it. I'm going on a four-five day holiday (Not vacation, because It only takes two hours to get there) to watch boring cars race around in the bush for hours on end.

... I wont even start how boring that should get.

But I have my 2DS, playing Pokemon, Mystery dungeon Explorers of time/ Gates to infinity, Fantasy Life... Y'know what, let's just say most Nintendo games I just happen to own.

If I get round to it, I'll make sure to draw a comic, or a picture for you guys! (Because, I just happen to be a "Digiartist" and stuff)

"If I get time (or if I stop being lazy) I'll try to post something, but don't get your hopes up. I leave in twenty minutes or so when I post this, (Today is Thursday for me so I'll be back round about Monday)

I'll update as soon as possible, but right now look forward to the Guest Post coming either later tonight or tomorrow.

Thanks for reading, see you on the other side of the screen in words!

Bk2 Ch.4 Midnight escape - part2

Before the bomb went off, a huge light beam pushed it away into the forest. They all looked up to see who did that, but only saw the cloudy sky. Without wasting any time, Barak took care of the rest of the UnMythics. Ruby quickly got up, and started dragging Midnight back to the trapdoor.

Midnight: Uh, why are we going back underground?

Ruby: We need to get out of here, and the forest and plains are too dangerous at this time.

Sapphire and Mora came out of the cottage and followed close behind with Barak.

Sapphire: Ok, who wants to make a guess on who, or what did that? That pretty much saved Midnight's life!

Midnight: Shut up...

Ruby: It doesn't matter right now - we need to get out of here, before they come back!

The trapdoor opened, showing Citrine underneath, obviously excited.

Citrine: It's just like the game Escape when we were kids! I remember Sapphire always having trouble trying to find our tunnels...

Ruby: This is no game! Can you get Digger and Duggar to show us a passageway away from here?

They all jumped down to the stairs and slowly made their way back to everyone else. Sunshine surprised at their return, got up.

Sunshine: Oh, hi! Uh... what are you doing back here?

Midnight: Just escaped a bunch of armed UnMythics. Nothing that special.

Sunshine: Oh, good. It'd be an awful shame if something were to happen... to you. Us.

Sapphire: ... Ok, not awkward or weird in any way... Now let's go! We need a safe place to rest, because we can't just keep doing this! We'll eventually fall down from exhaustion at this point.

Ruby: I guess, but that will have to wait.

Citrine: Hey, Driller duo!

The brothers appeared from the shadows, and saluted to Citrine.

Duggar: Yes, Citrine. What can we do for you?

Citrine: These fine young heroes need your help finding a tunnel out of this area. Guaranteed to be dangerous and life risking, but it's all for the sake of stopping this silly war! Go forth, make us proud, and say goodbye to your mother before you go. This may be the last time you see her, vise versa.

The tiger team saluted again before hugging a nearby white tiger.

Diana (white tiger): Stop hugging me - you've got a job to do!

Digger and Duggar: Yes, ma'm!

The duo motioned to the gang to follow them down a tunnel. The dogs barked in encouragement to Mora, while the other animals cheered the vampires on as they walked into the darkness with their guides.

After walking down twisted tunnels and passageways, they surfaced up back to the forest.

Digger: There should be a cottage south-east from here. You'll find two sisters, who should be able to give you some safety for the night.

Duggar: This is as far as we'll go. The rest is up to you folk.

Ruby: Thanks for showing us the way.

Digger: It's the least we could do! Please send our regard to the sisters.

Sapphire: If we don't forget, sure.

They crept out into the forest, making sure no UnMythics were about. They started traveling again. It wasn't far now until they got to safety.

Fang: How do you know that?

Narrator: Does being an old Dragon make me smart?

Fang: ... Ok, I can believe that. Does that mean I can have sandwiches when we get there?

Narrator: I'll let them know.

Ruby: Fang, stop talking to thin air. I'm mad as I am already... In fact, I can hear a distant voice at the back of my head...

Fang: No, you don't. That's just your subconscious telling you to sleep.

Sapphire: So you say.

Sunshine: I'm starting to question the spiders sanity...

They continued walking for a while, until they came across a old run down hut covered by trees and plants. Ruby knocked on the door, and a elderly wolf appeared, not surprised to see them.

Kaya (light blue wolf): Come in, children. We were hoping to get some visitors today.

They gladly came in, and another wolf came in from another room, with a big pot of soup ready for them.

Xoco (blue wolf): I've got some warm veggie soup for you kids. Eat up, and then go to bed. It's been a busy night for you.

Everyone except Midnight started eating. The older of the sisters sat down next to him.

Kaya: What's wrong, child? Not hungry?

Midnight: Not really, no. Gives me a stomach ache just thinking about it.

Kaya: Why?

Midnight: ... Reminds me of my early childhood. More specifically, a sister.

Sunshine quickly looked up, scared curiosity in her eyes.

Kaya: Would you like to talk about it, young kit?

Midnight: ... No.

Kaya: ... Ok. If you feel uncomfortable about it, you don't have to tell. Get some rest, though.

Xoco led Midnight out of the room, into a spare bedroom. He landed in one of the beds, not listening to anything. The others soon followed him.

But after everything was quiet, a figure crept outside, and into the forest. She turned on a strange device, and breathed heavily.

Sunshine: ... I'm not sure, but... I think I've found him.

My eevees doing things...

Hello friendly people! No post, but a picture!

Basically my eevee kids from my Pokemon Y game (at least, in the comics) like lemonade. Well, most of them... Those that don't often have "Lemonade Wars" with the ones that do. Very entertaining, but one of the Alphas always puts a stop to it before anything gets serious.

But it's true - if you have a talent, make the most of it! If someone makes fun of it, just throw it in their faces and laugh for a while.

(As you can see this isn't my best work... not even in my top twenty. But it was fun sketching, outlining, and painting it! Plus, just look how adorable Dopey is!)
(Has no one seriously seen he pattern yet? No? Ok...)

Bk2 Ch.4 Midnight escape - part.1

Ruby and Sapphire ran through the forest, with Mora close on their heels. They swerved through trees, while gun shots sounded close behind.

Sapphire: Ruby, keep running! I've got an idea.

Ruby nodded her head, and continued sprinting. Sapphire got a cinnamon bomb (that she "borrowed" earlier), set it off, and threw it to the ground. Almost in an instant it exploded and the golden dust was all around her. She ran after Ruby as the UnMythic guards came closer.

Ruby: What did you do?

Sapphire: Once upon a time, a jerk thought it would be fun to push a young girl off a rocky cliff. They didn't realize, however, the awesome thief skills of the young girl, and lost a few cinnamon grenades that day.

Ruby: ...

Sapphire: ... And that is why they shouldn't ever annoy me.

They kept running, while the UnMythics got lost in their own weapon.

Midnight, Sunshine, Barak and the rest of the Vampires in GemRock village stayed underground.

Midnight: So... Sunshine, was it? How did you manage to get into this adventure party of ours?

Sunshine: Well, I was just walking alone in Everwinter forest (a little lost, to be honest), and I found a red kangaroo in deep thought. I asked for directions to your village, she gave them, asked what I was doing with the Moon crystal I was holding, and... kinda dragged me to her house.

Midnight: I see...

Sunshine: Why do you ask?

Midnight: Well, we never... properly introduced ourselves until now.

Sunshine: I guess there was always something in the way.

Midnight: Yes. There was...

Midnight looked hard into Sunshine's eyes. They locked gazes, not speaking for a while.

Fang: HEY GUYS!!! What are you doing?

Midnight quickly hit Fang, which sent him flying across the dark room.

Midnight: FANG!!! How many times has Ruby said to NEVER surprise people unless ordered to!?

Fang: (other side of room) Uh... never?

Midnight: Well, she should! You could kill someone with that power!

Fang scurried back over to the cheetahs.

Fang: It's not a power - it's a common skill among spiders. It usually only works on little kids and girls, though... and sometimes other animals.

Midnight: Power, skill, talent... whatever. All the same thing.

Narrator: Actually, there is a difference-

Fang: Be quiet, up there. No one cares!

Narrator: ...

Sunshine: Uh, who are you talking to, little spider?

Fang: My name isn't little spider! It's Fang! And I'm-... no, you wouldn't believe me. I'm out of here.

And without anyone noticing much, Fang scurried quietly away.

Sunshine: ... Is Ruby's pet always like that?

Midnight: I don't know if she thinks of him as a pet. Maybe a weapon or a tool, but not a pet.

Sunshine: Interesting...

Midnight: She's weird. But I guess that's a side effect to being a normal(ish) villager girl.

Sunshine: How so?

Midnight: The most obvious is that she goes after friends and family, even when it's better just to leave them behind.

Sunshine: That's not true - while, yes... sometimes, someone may seem helpless, having no strength in anything... but looks can be deceiving.

Midnight: Maybe, but Sapphire will put us in more danger one of these days.

Sunshine: ... Something tells me you like her.

Midnight: Oh, you girls and your jumping to conclusions... that's it, I'm off. So long, snowy.

And so saying so Midnight padded away into the darkness, and out of sight. The beat of wings suggested that Barak was following close behind.

Meanwhile, Ruby and Sapphire were trying to climb over the wall of GemRock.

Ruby: Come on, hurry up! Before the UnMythics find us...

Sapphire: Well, I would if my feet weren't injured.

Ruby: Fine, I'll give you a boost.

Sapphire: Don't forget Mora

Ruby: Kinda hard not to...

Ruby helped get Sapphire over, and then passed on Mora before following her. They dashed towards the center as quickly as they could, but an explosion on the other side of the village made them stop.

Ruby: Quickly, we have to get to the hideout!

Sapphire: Too late...

UnMythics could be seen charging towards them, so the cousins and hound hid in a nearby house, mostly empty.

Ruby: (whispering) Now we just have to hope they pass us...

After a minute, they heard a commotion outside. Curious, Sapphire opened the door, and peeked out. She was surprised to see Midnight, battling the UnMythics alongside Barak, who was blasting them off into the forest by the dozen.

Sapphire: (whispering) What are you waiting for, Ruby? Don't tell me you did all that training at your Lord's mansion for weeks just so you could hide in the dark, letting your friends do all the dirty work!

Ruby: (whispering) I don't know what you're talking about.

Sapphire indicated for Ruby to come and look. She did so, and sighed as she saw Midnight. She darted out of the house and joined the fray.

Midnight: Hello, Ruby. So glad you could join us!

Ruby: What took you so long to get out of the shadows?

Midnight: Nothing. Came out of my own free will.

Ruby: Heh, free will, eh?

Midnight: Is there a problem with that?

Ruby: No, no of course not... but let's discuss this when our lives are not in danger, please.

Barak: Couldn't agree more! Leete gat theme! (Let's get them!)

They battled for a few more minutes, but the UnMythics were in far greater numbers. Suddenly, a voice cried out to Ruby and Midnight.

???: LOOK OUT!!!

Ruby and Midnight instantly dived for the ground, as a cinnamon bomb exploded.
