Hybrid Kangaroos with Time Travel Powers - It's a Family Occupation

GUYS
GUYS GUYS GUYS GUYS GUYS

You know how I've been complaining for years that I have no idea what Sapphire's been doing with her life after she left high-school??

I'VE FINALLY FOUND OUT WHAT SAPPHIRE'S BEEN DOING

GUYS

SHE'S A TIME TRAVELER!
SAPPHIRE'S A TIME TRAVELER TOO!!!

On the one hand this raises so many more questions but THIS ALSO EXPLAINS SO MUCH!
(Sorry, I'm just so excited about learning this, like WOW GIRL, I did not expect this from you)

Okay. So, how I found out about this is kinda... well, it made sense at the time, but trying to recount the tale might get confusing. So please bear with me, because I actually really want to write this down as a note to my future self.

*deep breath*

Alright. So it all started a few nights ago when me and my sister were talking about UV. I think we were jumping from one topic to another more than actually talking about anything specific? Because it's so easy to do in UV..
Anyway. Long story short, my sister had a light-bulb moment and started to explain a possible explanation for why we never see Sapphire in the mainstream story. This explanation included Morgana the Fey hiring Sapphire to do a little job and it ending BADLY.
Badly enough so that Sapphire was at death's door due to a HORRENDOUS injury, and Morgana saving Sapphire by giving her some of her blood.

Now. A funny thing about blood in UV - normally fairy blood has a lot of magical healing properties with no further side effects apart from causing you to sparkle or maybe have a third eye for a few hours. That's cool, and usually harmless. If you're not a Vampire...
If your a Vampire and drink fairy blood, you will get something Weird with a capital W in your magic system that could range from "My fur can glow and change colour" to "I can summon Cthulhu with my mind". And there's no way of telling what you're gonna get.

And for those that have stuck around for long enough or remember, Sapphire is half-vampire. But she thought she couldn't access the Vampic side of her genes (and she was right; it was a dormant part of her), so she's never relied or depended on it. As far as she is concerned, she was UnMythic.

But fey magic don't care what you can or can't do. It reacted to the fact that Sapphire had some Vampire in her, and it latched onto it and gifted her with the power of Time Travel and Teleportation.
... to put it simply and shortly.

Sapphire had to spend a few productive hours screaming in the forest to get used to the idea of being immortal before visiting Grandma to ask for help. And Grandma in turn asking Aeron, because he's the expert on stuff like this.

Cue Aeron going through the stages of grief, dying of laughter, screeching in Spanish, and banging his head against the wall with muffled screams of "I should've know I should've know I SHOULD'VE KNOWN-" in the span of five minutes. Then extending his hand to shake Sapphire's, and saying "Welcome to the club."

Young-Aeron hasn't even been born at this time yet, so Sapphire has no idea she's joining forces with her future nephew. But I'm getting ahead of myself...

This explains why Sapphire rarely visits Ruby anymore. Not because she can't or doesn't want too, but because Sapphire no longer ages at a coherent rate anymore, and she feels like that would raise Questions.
But Ruby has some massive blind-spots and assumes the reason why Sapphire still looks like she's 25 when she's nearly 40 is because she never had to deal with the stress of keeping a kingdom stable or raising kids. Or keep Midnight from running amok.

Also Ruby has a time-traveler for a son.

So when she DOES figure it out a few more years later, it's more *disappointed "I thought you were better than this" look* than *Shocked Disbelief*.
After that Sapphire visits a lot more often. Technically.
Time Travel is fun like that. :)

ANYWAY. I think I'm coming to the end of my rant... Um, it's probably not worded very well, but I'm so excited about this new development that I think it doesn't matter if no one else understands.

When I start making UV comics it'll look much better.
(Whenever THAT may be)

Sooo... yeah!
How's your week been?

"Do you mind, Blacky? I'm trying to reflect my terrible life choices..."

Good evening, you fantastic few people who have made the choice to check out this post on this particularly fine night!

Been a pretty rough week for me. Trying to assert dominance over my stress and stuff, only to finally get results in the last few days. Not good results, but I'm at least back in charge again, so I'll take it. Hopefully I'll continue in an upward curve in the upcoming week. :)

As for drawing? Well...
Been drawing a certain Canadian Pyromaniac a lot lately.
*thumbs up*

Hunter's hair is equal parts wild, fun, and confusing. Just the way all hair-styles should be.

Not satisfied with the lighting or shading, but eh. What can you do?
I'll work on improving it at a later date.

*...*

Well. Now that we've got all that out of the way, I'll catch you guys later!
*salutes myself out*

Midnight, The Spoon Lord

Hello again! Fancy seeing you back here.
We got ourselves another UV picture tonight.

Ah-HA! No spoon is safe from Midnight's paws!
Silver spoons, golden spoons, wooden spoons, plastic spoons, and the odd spoon that's made from something like cookie dough... Nothing is too petty for him to steal!
Oh, it's easy to just take them back from him. He's perfectly open about it. It's the taking that gives him a buzz. And the hording. But he doesn't care if you steal them back from him.

He knows how to get more if he wants some. :)
(Ruby hates how he always steals her spoons the day she decides to make soup for dinner. "What do you expect us to eat with then? Forks??" *THWACK* "Give me those.")

Sino, but if she was an Alien Vet for the I.I.

Hello there! How you lot doin'?
Not much for me to say tonight. Been a bit of a boring week, I'm afraid. Sprained my creativity on Tuesday, and forced myself to rest until I felt like I could draw something without having to painfully squeeze my heart into submission.

But despite that I guess I've been good.
Drew this, anyway. :)

Anyone remember Sino? Blind anthro spider who used to be a sheep? Wears a checkered bandana?

Well, I was thinking deeply about various anxieties earlier this week and was trying my best to come to terms with just how dumb and unlikely they all were... so I came up with an alien race who choose to become blind (either due to religion or culture, haven't decided yet) to comfort myself.
I realized, like, five minutes after I came up with this idea that Sino would fit perfectly for this new alien group.

Her personality is quite calming and philosophical, plus she's really gentle and empathetic. Really cheered me up arguing with her about the importance of sight, and how I shouldn't worry about it.

I like all my spider characters. But besides Fang, not a lot of them have a chance to be used for something.
At least Sino has somewhere else to live now! Even if she isn't a spider anymore... :)

Anyway! Enjoy your week as best as you can! And for those that are working, I hope you do your best.
See you around!

Pat & Blacky (The World Reader)

Hi there.
I think I'm going through one of my phases again. Y'know, the kind where I just... don't really love anything I draw?
Yeah.

Gonna try and be positive and kind to myself.
Or at least not force myself to try harder and harder, to see if I can break through this.

I was planning to try and write up a little description about these two and the story they're in, but I don't think I have the energy to spare...
Just know that they're a little like Ruby and Midnight, but Medieval and a lot younger. Also they have a magic book that has a map that shows them where they need to go (very useful).

You and Me

WELL. After spending a literal (and very productive) week drawing Gravity Falls for my sister, I thought it was time I did something for myself.

Something easy. Maybe a little cute.
 And 100% nostalgic.

While sharing and listening to stuff with my sister during this week, a certain song was brought to my attention again, and it gave me major feels.
It was a song I remembered quite fondly, hearing it years and years ago on Eurovision (back in the day when I got up at 4am to watch it live with my more sadistic family members) and I couldn't help but imagine Ruby and Sapphire as I heard it once more.

Those two were closer than sisters, once. And while they did rekindled their relationship in their teenage years, I think they realize that they'll never get back what they had.

But they're both okay with that.
They have good memories of a time that could've easily been far worse for them.

I don't see much of Sapphire in my mainstream stories anymore (since Ruby and Midnight's domestic shenanigans keep me pretty occupied) but I still think of her from time to time.

Maybe I'll get Aeron to track her down for me... Spy on her for a bit. Heck, maybe even somehow manage to worm his way into her adventuring group?
Hmm...

I wont force anything. Sapphire will tell me what she's been up to one day.
I've got time.

Til then. *raises glass* Cheers, girls!

Kings of Bandwell

Well. I WAS going to try and make an Anzac post for today, but because I've already made a Birthday special earlier this month my brain did a little... uh... how should I put this?
It backed away into the darkest corner and refused to come out.

Yeah. As appropriate as it would've been, I'm afraid I got so stressed I decided it wasn't worth it in the end.

BUT, despite everything I've been through this week, I did manage to draw something UV related! Midnight and Reginald, no less! And I guess we can all live with that... :)

During one of my fits of complete self-worthlessness this week, I decided I'd cheer myself up by making a UV Playlist on Spotify - just to see how many songs I could gather in one place that make my think of Undercover Vamparoo.

Considering my memory, I was surprised I came up with as many as I did, but looking at it harder I realized that most of the songs were about Midnight. "Why Should I Worry" and "All Hail The King" are the most obvious examples, although there are a few Harland and Reginald songs in there, so maybe I'm overthinking it...

Anyway. It's a work in progress, but it helped me focus as I drew this picture, so I don't mind. :)
And in case any of you wanna check it out >>>HERE'S THE LINK<<< to it!

Candy Cousins

*...*

*waves arms in the general direction of picture, not having a clue how to start this post*
*??*

I was just thinking about how fun it would be to draw something candy themed again, but all my brain was giving me was LOLLIPOP.

Just... LOLLIPOP.

It wouldn't take me any further than that, so I just shrugged and drew lil' Ru and Sapphy with the teeth-rotting treat.

I like to imagine that the Vampires have their own speical snacks, like blood boxes and stuff. They definitely have some sort of iron-pop that would be pretty popular. Maybe not as much as a regular lollipop, but the benefits would probably outweigh the lack of sweetness! :)

"Relax, nerd..."

Hey there
...

Yeah, might as well get this over with. Can't think of anything to say.

Far too tired to try and draw something new today, so you're getting the Gravity Falls AU art I posted last night to my Instagram.

Was kinda proud of the background anyway, so I'm not too upset about it.
Hopeless dorks, the both of them. :)

Growing up

Hm. April 4.

Fourth of the Fourth.

...................

I've been thinking about this day on and off for the past... long while, actually.  And I've been debating with myself whether or not I'd do something special, or just let it slip past like we usually do...
But, obviously you can see I've decided against it. So...

*snaps fingers*

Yup. It's my birthday. Well, our birthday... And not only that, but this is the day we legally turn into adults. 18.
We're 18 now, guys.

I suppose normal people would feel excited about that. But I've never been normal ever, so I don't feel obliged to fake anything. I'm indifferent to this.
Well okay, not indifferent...

But not stressed anymore.

*****

I remember turning 13 (which coincidentally was also on a Saturday) and going into denial and hating pretty much everything about life. Well, just the parts that I didn't want anything to do with. Like... growing up. And the piano. And math. But mostly growing up.
I was a pretty melodramatic child in certain areas...

And I remember watching cartoons and reading comics and books like an addict. Like... spending every single moment obsessing over animated shows and movies and comics and fan fiction, like I was scared my enjoyment for these things wouldn't be the same when I grew older. Too old to appreciate the things I loved so much. That by the time I'd turn 18, something inside me would just switch off and everything would go grey or something (I dunno, those years are hazy to me looking back now).

By the time I had turned 15-16 I think I realized what an unhealthy little zombie I was and started the long road to turning it down a notch or ten, and gaining better self-control and drawing habits... which then made me into an overworked stressed teenager who thought that anything but your best and working at 200% was not good enough. Which still meant I didn't get much done. But for different reasons...
Haha, and there was still that fear of growing up.

But ever since last Christmas (or just before that.. during the last 6 months, in any case) I think I must've gotten more mature or something, because I suddenly stopped caring about my age. I let go my fears and anxiety about how this was supposed to be a turning point in my life, and just accepted that this wasn't going to change who I was or what I was going to do and it honestly didn't matter and nobody cared.
I cheered up considerably realizing that, let me tell you! I could take years learning to drive a car if I wanted to. I could stay home until I was 30 or 40 and nobody would mind.
And hey, if the world ended before that, I wouldn't have to worry!

*****

I try my best to not be too personal on this blog. But I know I constantly look back at my stuff and enjoy what I wrote and I remember so much more when I do. My thought process, my mental state, even what I was planning to watch or play to reward myself for posting another picture on time!

And, well... our birthday DID land on a Saturday, didn't it? Like it was fate or something. Planned. Destined.

Definitely wouldn't have put this much effort if it was on any other day, I can say that much.

SO... Happy Birthday to us! I got a good feeling about this new year of our life.
And I understand I've got to work on myself AND my stories a lot, but I know I can do it!

Hope you guys enjoy your week in isolation! Treat yourself kindly and remember that whatever your going through will seem like nothing in a few years. Have a good one! :)

My Son

*Hums Viva la Vida as I quickly set this up so I can go have some dinner before 8*

If I had told myself 5 years ago that Midnight would look after a son, I'd be... incredulous. Like, "What? Midnight? Happy-go-lucky, never settle down, I'd rather DIE first, Midnight? THAT one? *long pause* ... Sure. If you say so." Haha... Character development, am I right?

This boy makes a surprising good parent. He'll deny it, believing himself to be that one uncle-figure who acts as a terrible influence... But when something really counts, he'll roll up his sleeves and try really hard. And I think Ruby knows this.
She knows Midnight wont do a lot of things for himself, but when it's for someone else - maybe not anyone, but someone - he'll legit go to great lengths to make sure they're happy and have everything they need.

And Flavio really needed that. He needed Midnight.
... Maybe I should talk about the Castle Trio some time? Could be relevant. Might give you a better idea of who I'm talking about...
*...*
Eh. Later. :)

Enjoy your weekend, folks.

Worth It

This week has just felt like a whole lotta Mondays to me, with the odd Sunday thrown in for variant flavor. I'm not sure how I felt about that, but it's... Wait, no. I still have to deal with this for a little bit longer. But then afterwards, on Tuesday, it should all be back to normal!

Normally I'd be pleased to have so many day offs, but I guess I wasn't in the right mental state to appreciate them this week... Ah well

Drew a fair bit of UV, though. Despite my feelings.
Here's a quickie I drew this afternoon. :)

Midnight may be king of a small backwater town which only serves as a stopping point for adventurers, but that doesn't stop him from having fun sometimes!
And by fun, I mean throwing himself bodily off a cliff to avoid going to a council meeting of all the local kings under Richard's Rule.

He sent Reginald and Ruby in his place, though. Ruby was NOT happy with that, but she went anyway.
'Responsible', and all that.

But she made Harland force Midnight to stay indoors for the next two weeks. But of course Mid didn't mind.
.... Until Reginald dropped two tons of paperwork on top of him and cheerily suggested that, "WELLLL, since you're stuck in here for a wee bit, how about we get these sorted out, yea?"

Midnight had regrets. XD

PMD - Team Sweet

Hello again! Glad to see you all here again.

I've uh... been busy this week. Distracted. Occupied with my thoughts.
...
I'll explain briefly.

Okay. So. After we got back from our Grandparent's place on Monday (we were dropping off my sister back to College... like you do), I started playing PMD DX for the first time, and didn't do anything else until I had finished the main story 3 days later. I had played all the other Mystery Dungeon games, expect Blue/Red Rescue team, so naturally I was pretty excited about it!

I had already decided I was going to play what the game chose for me the first time round, then replay it with the Pokemon of my own choosing. And I got Treecko. Which surprised (and irritated me) a little bit, because I don't... well...
I prefer fire types more.
That's... the nicest way I can put it.

I don't want to be mean to the grass type class - they have some pretty cool Pokemon in their ranks! And they're useful for taking care of those pesky Water and Ground types. And they can learn some pretty sweet moves! But I prefer them to be my partner. Not to actually be one. If that makes sense...

Well, anyway. I accepted my fate gracefully enough, and after a few minutes hesitation, picked Torchic as my buddy - bringing back an old partner from a previous PMD game. I figured I'd tag-team her a lot if I didn't like how my 'character' played.

But it turns out I didn't need to that much!

I had a lot of fun blasting foes from halfway across the room with Dragon Pulse and slamming them in the face with Iron Tail! Haha, I had no idea Treecko's could have so many ridiculously powerful moves right out the gate! It was awesome! Breezed through the first few bosses, only coming into trouble with the volcano levels and stuff... But playing all the other Mystery Dungeon games had prepared me well. Got through them all without having to restart a level once. :)

And now that I've finished the main story, I've been having a lot of thoughts about these two... Rewriting their story to make things more interesting and personal. More conflict. Character development.
... Dunno what to do with it all, though.

*Shrugs* Eh. Guess I don't have to do anything with it. It's fun. And it's for me.
But it would be pretty cool if I could make it into something...

Anyway.
*Waves you all off and turns on PMD DX again*

UV Ramblings with AppleStorm

Well... I've decided to do something I don't think I've ever done since I started this whole "Posting pictures I've drawn on a Saturday night" thing. And that is, not to post a picture. That I drew.
... On a Saturday night.

Mainly because It's already Thursday (as I write this) and I have the sneaking suspicion I'm not going to be drawing at all this week. It's just... not a good week.

So instead I shall be talking a bit more about UV. Mainly just about what's on my mind, but hopefully it will still be enjoyable. Rambling, but enjoyable.

*****

Right. Ok. So... Ruby DeathDancer. I'm sure most of you guys are familiar with the character; Red kangaroo, Vampire, went to a not-vampire school and met a buncha life-long friends and family (and Midnight). Bookworm, tired voice of reason, potions expert... also has a Grandmother who's immortal. And a sandwich obsessed spider who's also immortal.

Yup. That was her age 15.

But uh, here's a thing... I have never spent a day in school in my entire life. Not one. Which was probably pretty obvious to anyone who did. But my 12 year old self really wanted to write in a school setting. Like, REALLY wanted to. Which was cool, I guess. But even a preteen me felt that, unless I actually went to a real school, I couldn't capture the 'right spirit' of the story I had grown so attached to. I still did it, but... obviously I trailed off to more generic adventures later on. Too scared to try and explore something I felt I would get wrong, not matter how much I researched or read about.

Maybe that's why I'm still so... hesitant, to revisit Ruby's teen-hood. Oh, BEFORE she went to high-school, absolutely no problem. Some mundane Vampire shenanigans of a quiet, angry little home-schooled girl trying to gain approval and attention from her Grandma gives me lots of stories. To say nothing of K&D, with big-brother affection, protection, and teasing for their feisty little sister.
Would also give me a chance to explore some Vampic Culture. And how Ruby's family go completely against that.
And the parents. Yeah. Them too...
*deep concentrated look of pure resentment for Ruby's mother. But not the father. He tried his best.*

And after she graduates, she and Sapphire, Ollie, Harland and Midnight all go off on an almost 1-year road-trip around New Zealand in an old van which totally wasn't stolen. Until Midnight's parents caught up with him and forcibly crowned him... and put him under house arrest. Ruby and Harland stuck around with him (to keep him company) and got married after a few years, while Sapphire buggered off and started doing her own thing. Got hooked up with an amateur adventuring team and never looked back. She visits occasionally, but she's got her own separate story now. Ollie went to university and became an engineer of some sorts. Probably computer or electrical. Or both. Also got married and moved to Ireland. Still kept in touch with Ruby, though.

Then when Reginald comes in, that's when things really start kicking off! Midnight finally has someone competent to do the taxes with, and Ruby and Harland's business - The Déjá Brew - starts doing well. It's a little coffee cafe, potion shop, and pub in the more 'magic friendly' part of town. Although in Bandwell everything's magic friendly, but... *waves hand* More so.

And when all the kids start turning up...
Yeah.

I've got lots of material, as you can see. It's just...
That middle bit still bothers me.

Intellectually I know a high school is just a group of different personalities with bad coping and people skills, with lots of hilarious mistakes and stories and dramas and stuff. Which is 90% of what my story is anyway. But another part of me leans heavily on the "Write what you Know", and I know NOTHING about that kinda world. It's frustrating.

Hmm.. but then a part of me is glad I never had to go through all of that. Would have probably damaged me more than benefited.
Eh. Who needs friends your own age, anyway? A twin sister is a thousand times better, any day of the week. And older people are more interesting. Plus, it would have meant I couldn't have spent so much time learning to draw or write, or anything I was actually interested in.

Yeah. Maybe this was for the best...

But anyway.
I'm getting tired... I'll wrap this up and go watch some more Discworld Noir. And finish reading Terry Pratchett's GUARDS! GUARDS!
It's only taken me about 3 days to finish it. A very lovely, non-stressful way to spend your free time, I must say.

See you, guys. :)

Important Documenting

Feburary 29th, huh?
*...*
Nice.

Okay. So... Story time!

This is Aeron DeathDancer, the youngest son to Ruby and Harland DeathDancer. A kangaroo/penguin hybrid (and Vampire), he lives the intense life of a witch's son, and enjoys every second. As a kid he would help his mum out at the 'shop' (the tower Midnight said Ruby could use for her alchemy lab), and has a decent knowledge of all things magic. Especially blood.

At the ripe old age of 9, he decides it's about time he got some special magic powers and, with the opportunity to go to the ocean with Aunty Sapphire, plans a stupidly dangerous AWESOME FOOL-PROOF PLAN to find and fight a 'rare powerful sea monster, with immeasurable magic potential". Using the potion knowledge he learnt from Ruby, and with a small sword he earned on his 6th birthday (from Reginald), almost freezes and drowns himself in an attempt to sink to the bottom of the Mariana Trench.

To make a long story short, he gets Time-Travel and Teleportation powers. And with a now 500 year stunted growth, he's pretty much immortal.

So. What does a young boy with such amazing, serious world-changing powers do?
Go on epic adventures without telling his mother, of course!

Well, once he figured out how to do it, anyway...
Took him a few years to realize he could do more than just create spooky space mist. :)

******

Okay. I'll leave it here for now, but this has been fun! I'll try to talk more about UV in the near future.
Til then, thanks for reading! And see you all again soon! <3

Army Angel

GREETINGS, WORLD!

Feeling much less exhausted than I think I was last week. Well, I can sound enthusiastic when I post now, so that must mean I'm doing fine.

RIGHT. The original reasoning behind this picture was quite a trip, but it boiled down to HALOS ARE COOL AND FUN TO DRAW and BARBED WIRE WOULD LOOK AWESOME IF IT GLOWED. I combined the two of them into a sketch of one of my sister's characters (again), and not too shabby if I do say so myself.

You might've noticed I'm trying out a new sketching style, too.
Instead of a rough crayon look I've been using for the past few months, I'm now making it much more cleaner and bolder.
Not as good as line art, but a decent second-best when I'm feeling lazy. Plus, it feels much nicer to draw with! :)

Not Afraid

Hi. I'm tired, but happy to be finishing the week in a good mood.
Wanna see the picture I did this afternoon?

I keep forgetting that it's good to draw something completely random sometimes. As nice as it is to be able to focus and enjoy a drawing mood, it's also nice to do something that... just exists. Y'know? Something that isn't supposed to be anything special. Something that you just come up with on the spot without any thought or purpose for it.
It's good. And being reminded about that feeling did me good, too. :)

Hope you guys have a lovely weekend. Stay safe. <3

The last Letter

Hello, there. I'm at my grandparents house at the moment (and then probably at my cousins house when I post this on Saturday). Sitting on the unstable top-bunk like I usually do. Listening to lots of 60's stuff. Not too hot, all things considering. It's been raining a lot.
:)

Another of my sister's mercenary ocs. He just received the last letter he'll ever get from his girlfriend.
She was tired of waiting for him.

He's been sitting like that almost all night.

First the only friend he ever had in this job, then his girlfriend.
What a week it must've been for him...

The Colour Inkstinct (Cover)

Ah, it's that time again! Time for some more Splatoon art! :D

I drew this last Saturday, since I was still in a major mood... Just some fun concept art for a story that I've had in my head on and off for the past year or so... Two boys from very different cultures, living as roommates and trying to find their place in life.

Storm comes from a very shallow society that focuses solely on pleasure, and he's trying to find the one thing that'll make him happy. He's chased down all sorts of interests, hobbies, and dreams, but to no avail... Hoping to finally get some inner peace, he moves out of his parents house and gives Turf War a shot. The most popular game in the whole world. He believes if he can do good in this, he'll finally be happy.

Ace, on the other hand, comes from a culture whose entire purpose is to work hard and serve others. From his family, to his school, to the military, and to his leader, he's been expected to do his very best. And he did. He was a good soldier, a good son, a good person, and was probably going to be a cog in the big machine that was the Octarian Race for life. No questions, no complaints.
Until something that happened a few years ago changed his perspective... Now he's decided that there has to be more to life than working. And he wants to find it.

....

So, yeah. That's what I've thinking about lately.
I really REALLY want to make a comic of this. Maybe I should. Would certainly give me some practice before I get serious doing UV comics...
Hm.
We'll see.

Tentacular Vacation

"If everybody had an ocean
Across the U.S.A.
Then everybody'd be surfin'
Like californi-a
You'd see them in their baggies
Huarachi sandals too
A bush bushy blond hairdo
Surfin' U.S.A."

I blasted the Beach Boys' Surfin' USA the entire time I drew this. Nothing like drawing some Splatoon oc's to the tune of a 60's song, amiright?

Hmm... Maybe I should continue with these more sketchy posts for a little bit longer. They're kinda fun, and it means I can throw in a background for almost nothing. And by Jove, I think we all agree I need that.

I guess I'll decide next week.

Meanwhile, you guys enjoy your weekend! Do something fun. Relax. Go surfing or something.
Haha, anyway. Catch you all later! :)

Aeron DeathDancer

Whelp. Tired and anxious again, so it's time for another sketchy picture!
I should just call this Sketch-anurary, huh? Would make it seem like I'm doing this on purpose. In a way I kinda am, but.. *waves hand away* eh.

Every few months or so I try to draw Aeron as a (mostly) mature adult. Just to test out what he could look like. Because he sometimes likes going back in time to visit Ruby and Harland to just... relax with them. Have some familiar cooking, spend time with his parents, and quietly helps them out in small ways. Like making sure an important letter gets to its destination on time (by just taking it himself and teleporting), or keeping some of the kids safe from shenanigans, or finding the exact right person to help out with a current problem. (That's how they got their permanent psychiatrist! Poor Reggie and Midnight really needed that...)

As he flicks back and forth through time and dimensions, seeing what the future holds and the secrets of the past, he can't help but come back to his old childhood home by the quiet forest glade. Even if it's just for a cup of coffee with his mum...

I really want to draw a scene like that one day.
Maybe soon...

Kitchen Talk

... Otherwise titled as "AppleStorm is finally learning not be a perfectionist"!
Haha, that's the dream, anyway. Honestly I was just really proud of this sketch and I shaded it so much it would've taken me ages to recreate in a cleaner version... Time I neither had nor cared to spend, so this is all your getting this week. :)

Two more of my sister's oc's. Having a MUCH needed discussion about life choices...
It mostly boils down to "Let sleeping dogs lie" and "War sucks".
Also "Cheer up and we'll go get you some therapy in the morning".

Tyler McKay

2020 is now a thing. Mostly I'm filled with indifference to this fact, but it is cool that we finally get to see double 20's!

And I've got something to post for this first Saturday, unlike last year where I was too mentally exhausted to do much of anything... Also pretty cool.

One of my sister's mercenary oc's. He's quite fond of animals. Up to the point where he'll shoot anyone who hunts, abuses pets, or even so much as wears a fur coat...
Apart from that, he's very friendly. :)

Holiday Ride

Evening, guys! You lot all had a good week? Enjoyed your Christmas and stuff? Heh, I've spent the entire week sick with flu. Definitely one way to spend your holidays, but I've had fun! Got to truly sit back and relax and really enjoy myself, unlike what I would've had done if I wasn't sick! True, I spent my 25th awake at 3AM with insomnia and then trying to stumble my way through the rest of the day, but I still had a good Christmas. :)
I thought I'd be more or less better by the time Friday rolled around, but I've developed a bit of a sore scratchy throat, which has a tendency to be worse the moment I'm in a relaxed sleep and I have to cough till I almost vomit. Still fine, just annoying...
I was worried I wouldn't be able to draw something for the blog tonight. I had been lazy 2 weeks out of 4 this month already, and I was starting to worry I'd have to do it again.

Of course that fear was unfounded cuz I drew this!

Pretty simple, but I like it! I wasn't planning on drawing anything festive (because I already had my Christmas Mood way back in August) but I thought it'd be cute if I drew a little reindeer girl, and two hours later I had this little picture!

Anyway. I hope you lot enjoy the rest of your holidays! Wont be making any New Year's post again (FAR too lazy for that... also far too sick for that, too) so I'll be seeing you all next year! :)

Buster Boy

*Static noises echo around brain as I try to come up with something other than nothing like last time*
...
*CracklecracklespitpopCRACK*

Hhhhyeah nope I'm too tired to deal with this.
Enjoy your day folks.

The DeathDancer Children - 1986

Hello! I'm back from my New Zealand trip, and I'm no longer feeling dead after that 4AM start for the airport on Thursday (only got 2 hours sleep again, but after doing this regularly for the past 3 months I knew what to expect and what to do, so it wasn't that bad...)
Fun times all 'round, and I'm glad to be home! ... Almost. Have to wait until Tuesday before we drive back to our house, but that's fine with me. So long as there are no more airplanes!

Speaking of almost home, here's another little something from UV that I drew this week!

I've been thinking about doing this for a while... Finally decided I would this Tuesday.
Ruby and her brothers before she went off to the GoldenForest's Highschool, where all the important stuff takes place. Grandma said they didn't have to smile if they didn't want to, but they had to look at least a little alive and not like reanimated corpses for their parents. I reckon they managed, right? :)
Definitely was a nice challenge trying to make it look like an 80's photograph. Took some trial and error, but I reckon I did a good job!

An Undercover Adventure!

Hi! I wish to say something about what I've been doing this week, but I can't really be bothered... but here are the important bits - Am currently relaxing at our 3rd New Zealand house. Got a book in exchange for a review at a neat food place a few days ago. The book is about an Englishman's opinion about France and the French people, in a really snarky defensive way with some really clever points. I'm loving it, by the way. And also I have a really nice pillow. The weather is nice, too.

And I spent about 2-3 hours drawing this little piece.

......

Midnight doesn't normally like roughing it out in the wilderness for weeks on end, but when he finds out that there's another king from a nearby castle coming to visit him over some matters (whether it be a social "just making sure we're still cool and don't want to go to war" visit, a "we need to sort out some minor problem effecting both of us" visit, or a "we're just passing through- let us crash on your couch for a bit" visit) he'll round up Ruby and Reginald screaming "ADVENTURE!" and leave the castle as fast as he can.
Reginald isn't hard to motivate, and Ruby only comes because she knows both of them will end up in a ditch on fire without her looking after them.

Ruby will tell Harland where she's going and promises to text him when they get back to civilization, and Midnight just writes a note to David telling him what he's doing and to not tell anyone. Flavio then automatically crowns himself the new king and proceeds to brainwash anyone who says otherwise.

UV Rough Comic

IT'S BEEN SEVEN MONTHS AND I'VE ALREADY MADE ANOTHER COMIC, WHAT IS THIS WITCHCRAFT???

I was just playing Pokemon Shield at around midnight last Saturday and was just starting to wind down and prepare to think about going to bed when I had this urge to draw something. Didn't have a clear picture of what, just... SOMETHING. So I whipped out my tablet, fired up CSP and started sketching. About 20 minutes later I had 10 little thumbnails as a base idea and 10 very rough sketches I planned to expand on later the next morning.
About 2 days in I had finished the outline I wanted, and another two days I had all the colours down (would've finished it sooner but preparing for a trip to New Zealand certainly took some time).

Oh yeah! Going to New Zealand tomorrow. Catching a flight at around 7 in the morning I think? Which means we'll have to be leaving at around 4-5ish. Looking forward to that.
But I'm not that stressed currently... And I'm a actually excited in some ways. Once we're through the whole "get past Sydney Security to get on an airplane", bit...
*Thumbs up*

Magic Chemicals

Heey, folks! It's that time again!

A typical "Make it up as you go along" piece, but I think I'm happy with it. Okay, happy probably isn't the right word I'm feeling... Maybe just satisfied that I've managed to do something with a background in it? Yeah. That sounds more accurate.
I tried to make sure it was 100% geometrical. Which probably means it's about 85% geometrical, but apart from me, who actually fusses over stuff like that? :)

Also large glowing containers full of mystical rainbow liquid. What's not to love?

Spider Queen

🎵 Spider man, spider man, does whatever a spider can🎵

That's all that I've been thinking of whenever I see this picture now, and honestly I'm perfectly okay with that.

I tried to do a fancy carpet pattern. Geometric diamond webs are fun in making, but trying to put it on a slightly curved surface that's 3 times smaller is a little bit of a headache. And getting it to line up perfectly is a waste of time (still tried for a solid 20 minutes though).

Angela SoftSong x Alexis DeathDancer

AAAAND once again we're at the beginning of another month! November's the flavor this time; getting hotter with a generous dose of gaming fever. And mangoes. Lots of sweet, sweet mangoes! Nice!

Ah, and of course the typical weekly progress art from yours truly. *bows*

Ah, Ruby's eldest child with her very lovely cat girlfriend. <3

I had a lot of fun on this piece; nice and relaxing just to kick back and draw my good ol' magical anthro's again.
Also the first time I've drawn Angela and Adult Alexis on here. Neato. :)
It was only a matter of time before I drew these two angels together~

Bus Stop (sketch)

🎵 Bus stop, wet day 🎵
She's there, I say
Please share my umbrella
Bus stops, bus goes
She stays, love grows

🎵 Under my umbrella 🎵

I was doing some musical research a few weeks ago and came across this little song. When I showed it to my sister she suggested that I should draw something about it... Didn't end up doing much with it, and quickly forget about it. But seeing as I've been sketching all week and didn't have the energy to do something more detailed this Saturday I thought "Ah, might as well post this... just because it's not inked doesn't mean it's not good enough", so I am.

Trying to put a 1960's twist in the clothes and hair was certainly a challenge, but I like it!
Umbrella's are still hard, though. Aesthetically pleasing, but hard.

Simple Mermaid

Greetings! It is I! Your favorite weirdo! And I have brought with me a new, never before seen little mermaid monstrosity of the deep dark depths of the ocean! :)

Experimenting with my more simplified style again. Needed something I could outline in less than half an hour...

Seeking Refreshments

 New week, new post!
Let's do this!

*Claps hands together and produces image*

I need more practice drawing humans and animals. I mean, I draw a lot of Anthro Animals, sure, just... not much of anything else. Hm...
But I reckon I did a pretty decent job at this. Also it has a background! Feels appropriate, considering it's starting to get pretty hot in Australia, what with all the fires and stuff...

( Forget it, Blacky! Ford aint givin' up his drink to the likes of you. Go somewhere else for some orange juice. )

Dancing Alone

Folks, October is upon us! And with it every delightfully cute and spooky thing that has been kept back by the unknown holiday forces will be coming at us with great speed!

I doubt I'm going to do anything particularly special this month - I rarely do. But if I happen to create something of appropriate theme, I'll be sure to send it over here! :)

But enough of that. Time for the weekly art show!

I wasn't sure how this was going to turn out, but I'm actually pretty happy with this! Sure, coulda done more work on the background, but there's a charm in the simplicity. Alone somewhere in the dark, with music no one else but you can hear. Dancing quietly as the world around you stops for a time. Freedom, nostalgia, and sadness...

If I was more of a poet I would make this more depressing... Eh. Only got so many talents. :)
